The book pays' its respects to newspapers of 40 years ago for their lack of interest and per ception because they more or less ignored the Wrights while they were working out the fundament al principles of aviation —the factors which have played such important part in the current global war. One of. the most interesting phases of this) biography deals with relations between the Wrights and the Smithsonian In stitution. The unfortunate trend icf these relations led to the Wright brothers sending their original plane, the one that flew at Kitty Hawk, to London in stead of putting it in the Smith sonian Institution at Washington. The trouble between the | Wrights and the institution has been pretty well dissipated now, .and there is still some h'cpe that 'soon after the war the original I plane will be returned to this j country.
