RAMBLERS LOOK TO
BETHEL HILL AS
NEXT CONTENDER
Roxboro Boys Play Good
But Losing Game With
Hillsboro.
By Tom Woody, Jr.
A strong Hillsboro eleveij,sup
ported by a hard hitting back
field, defeated the Roxboro high
school team 13 to 0 Firday after
noon at Hillsboro. The first Hil
lsboro touchdown came in the
third quarter as a result of a Rox
boro fumble on thir own 15 yard
line. The ball was then carried
over the goal line by a line
smash. The extra was scored by
another running play.
The second Hillsboro touch
down was similar to the first,
in that they again recovered a
Roxboro fumble. A short pass
thropvn to the wing back, regis
tered another 6 points. The try
for extra point failed. The Rox
boro eleven put up a stubborn de
fense, but finally submitted to
the constant pounding by Hills
boro.
The lineup for Roxboro was as
follows:

iNext Roxboro game wil be
with Bethel Hill Friday after
noon. This game always creates
interest because Bethel Hill is
probably Roxboro’s best rival.
The game will be played on the
Bethel Hill gridiron. Bethel Hill
was beaten by Oxford 64 to 0
and Roxboro beaten by Oxford
19 to 0. Statistics don’t mean a
th ; ng in Roxboro - Bethel 'Hill
clashes, so the game should be
a hard fought and good one.

Pfc. Toufielk Amcen, of Rox

Ameen, who is stationed at Sioux

bonds. He writes this way to his
parents: “I’m enclosing the check
made out for SSOO, so get me
more bonds like the ones I al

can. I believe one SSOO bond
costs $375, so get one, and use
the rest of the SSOO to get small
er bonds. When you get these
let me know how many I have.”
Having gotten the War Bond
business done, Pfc. Ameen men
tions casually, “I almost forgot
to tell you. ... I went up in an

small one, just about the size of
the one Mr. (J. W.) Greene has.
It had a radio on it and we flew
all around: I was supposed to
handle the radio, so I did. It

An Orange County soldier. Au

when, decided that he ought to
keep his draft board informed as
to his change of address, and so
Mrs. Mildred B. Johnson, clerk
of Hillsboro Board No. 1 found
the following letter on her desk
this morning:
“Guess you will be surprised
to bear from me. Do you remem

“I was on the invasion of Sici

troops from North Africa. While
sitting in a foxhole going through
my billfold, I happened to notice
my registration card and I notice
that it said to keep in touch with
your draft board, so this is to
inform you of my change of ad
dress. I am in a foxhole some
where in Sicily. I will keep in
touch with you from time to
time.
“We are drinking plenty of
