SUNDAY, OCTOBER 10, 1943 RAMBLERS LOOK TO BETHEL HILL AS NEXT CONTENDER Roxboro Boys Play Good But Losing Game With Hillsboro. By Tom Woody, Jr. A strong Hillsboro eleveij, sup ported by a hard hitting back field, defeated the Roxboro high school team 13 to 0 Firday after noon at Hillsboro. The first Hil lsboro touchdown came in the third quarter as a result of a Rox boro fumble on thir own 15 yard line. The ball was then carried over the goal line by a line smash. The extra was scored by another running play. The second Hillsboro touch down was similar to the first, in that they again recovered a Roxboro fumble. A short pass thropvn to the wing back, regis tered another 6 points. The try for extra point failed. The Rox boro eleven put up a stubborn de fense, but finally submitted to the constant pounding by Hills boro. The lineup for Roxboro was as follows: Line Holleman, LE, Wilkerson, LT. h m mm SERVICE HM Claude, Harris, Prop. fIHHHI -1 r - - Currier LG., Wade, Center; Crews RG, Jordan Rl, Taylor RE. Backfield: King WB, Clayton FB, John son BBi Newell TB. iNext Roxboro game wil be with Bethel Hill Friday after noon. This game always creates interest because Bethel Hill is probably Roxboro’s best rival. The game will be played on the Bethel Hill gridiron. Bethel Hill was beaten by Oxford 64 to 0 and Roxboro beaten by Oxford 19 to 0. Statistics don’t mean a th ; ng in Roxboro - Bethel 'Hill clashes, so the game should be a hard fought and good one.
