from a visit to his grandmother
in Richmond, Va.
Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Williamson
of New York city and Ft. Lauder
dale, Fla., stopped in Montreat
for a few days on their way to
Florida. They were so entranced
with Montreat that they expect to
return in September.
Mrs. C. E. Dorsey has returned
alter a visit with her family in
Jacksonville, Fla.
The New cafeteria in the first
floor of the unfinished hotel is
proving to be a most popular place
this summer. The dining hall is
large, airy and light. The food is
delicious and reasonably priced.

VICTOR E. CREASMAN
Funeral services for Victor E.
Creasman, 32, who was killed
Saturday afternoon in an acci
dent at Beacon Manufacturing
company, Swannanoa, where he
was employed for about 15 years,
were held at the Baptist church at
Ridgecrest at 3 o’clock Monday
afternoon.
The service was conducted by
the Rev. Tom E. Walters, pastor
of the church, assisted by the
Rev. W. Huneycutt, pastor of
the Black Mountain Baptist church.
The services, held midst a flower
banked altar and a congregation
that filled the church, were brief
and impressive. The Rev. Mr.
Walters read the twenty-third
Psalm and other passages of
scripture and led the prayer. The
Rev. Mr. Huneycutt read a poem.
The music was in charge of Mr.
and Mrs. Robert Guy. Mr. Guy
sang “Sunrise Tomorrow.’’ Pall
bearers were Paul Turner, Clyde
Gray, Justin McSweeney of Ridge
crest, Cordia Bartlett, Emory
\Vhitaker, and L. Inloe of Swan
nanoa.
Surviving are the widow, Mrs.
Josephine Kelley Creasman, a
daughter, Linda Beth, a son,
Bruce, and four sisters, Mrs. E.
Y. Moore and Miss Ruth Creas
man of Ridgecrest, Mrs. Victor
Brown of Inman, S. C., and Mrs.
Bud Hendrix of Hickory, N. C.
Harrison Funeral Home was in
charge of arrangements and burial
was in Mountain Memorial ceme- |
tery.
MITCHELL C. BURNETTE
Funeral services for Mitchell C.
Burnette, 55, who died in an Ashe
ville hospital Wednesday night
were held Saturday afternoon at
3 o'clock at Mountain View Bap
tist church on North Fork. The
Rev. Eugene Byrd and the Rev.
Walter Styles officiated. Burial
was in the church cemetery.
Surviving are the widow, Mrs.
Tenney Shelton Burnette; two
daughters, Miss Margaret Bur
nette, and Mrs. Fred White, botn
of Black Mountain; two sons,
Mitchell C. Burnette, Jr., with the
army in New Jersey, and William
H. Burnette, with the marines at
Camp Lejuene; four sisters, Mrs.
Jessie Padgette, Mrs. H. A. Ker
lee, Jr., and Mrs. Fred Wilson, all
of Black Mountain, and Mrs. Ed
ward Glavich of Waynesville; one j
brother, F. B. Burnette, and one
granddaughter.
