GUDGER Mrs. J. A. Gudger was hostess to Circle No. 1 of the Methodist church, Tuesday afternoon, De cember 14. Mrs. H. A. Kerlee, cir cle chairman, presided during the business meeting. Miss Caroline Hall presented the program. Those present were: Misses Maud and Naomi O’Neal, Mrs. Kelly Renge, Mrs. E. M. Hursh, Mrs. J. E. Sylvester. Mrs. J. T. Simpson. Mrs. Frank Buckner, Mrs. Leroy Mashburn, Mrs. M. C. Dickens, Mrs. Joe Hemphill, Mrs. R. D. Rogers, and Mrs. H. W. Sanders. HALL SISTERS ENTERTAIN SEWING GROUP The needlework group of the Black Mountain Arts club met last Monday with Misses Caroline, Ru by. and Bernice Hall at Fairlawn. Christmas refreshments were served from a beautifully decor ated table, centered by a sugar plum tree, on each side of which were white candles in silver holders. A red tarlton cloth covered the table. On the buffet was a Christmas tree of colored balls, over which was festooned a silver rope. It was a particularly festive and enjoyable occasion for all. M Y W SING CAROLS AT WNC SAN The Youth Fellowship of the Methodist church entertained the patients at the W.N.C. Sanatorium last Sunday evening with Christ mas carols. Mrs. Douglas Jones and the Rev. and Mrs. Thad Mc- Donald accompanied the group. There were approximately thirty young people participating. Mrs. Cartell in Mocksville, North Carolina. This will be Mr. Yates’ first visit to his new grandbaby, four weeks old Ellen Baskerville Gartell. The college girls toured the Montreat community Sunday night singing carols, which were great ly enjoyed by the residents. VISITORS FROM ILLINOIS Mr. and Mrs. Robert Miller and children Susan and Joyce Ann of Bloomington, Illinois, stopped for a few hours’ visit with Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Greenwood Wednes day afternoon. They were enroute to Florida. PASSES EXAMINATION Dr. Philip Morgenstefn, chief of the medical service at Oteen VA hospital, formerly of Black Mountain, recently passed his ex amination and is now certified as a specialist in internal medicine by the Board of Internal Medicine.
