To be eligible for such a pen sion, a veteran must have been discharged under conditions other than dishonorable after 90 days service, or else dicharged for ser vice-connected disability, VA ex plained. His income also must not exceed $ 1.000 per year if he is single, or $2,500 if he is married or has a minor child, it was pointed out. The monthly pension rate for veterans in this category is SOO. This is increased to $72 after ten years or when the veteran reaches 06. Funeral expenses, up to $l5O, may be paid by the government in the death of any World War I or II veteran discharged under conditions other than dishonor able, the Veterans Administration points out. These allowances, VA said, are payable only to undertakers or to reinburse the person who paid the veteran’s funeral expenses. Rev. Walden Goes To Wake Forest The Rev. Henry E. Walden has resigned from the pastorate of the Old Fort Baptist church which he has served for the past twenty months, to accept work at Wake Forest college. The resignation which was re ceived at the eleven o'clock ser vice on Sunday will become ef fective on January IS when Dr. Walden will leave with Mrs. Walden and their children for their new home. He will assume his duties as assistant professor of Religion at Wake Forest on January 27. In addition to the call to work, Dr. Walden has been appointed by the State Baptist convention to serve as secretary of the department of Rural Church work, a department created at the last state conven tion. North Carolina is the first state in the convention to adopt this program of rural work. Since coming to Old Fort Dr. Walden has been active in all phases <Sf church work.
