Date For Rose Exhibit Is Set By Garden Club The Asheville council of garden clubs will sponsor a Rose exhibit at the Battery Park hotel, June 12, which will be open to the public. Anyone may enter roses, either as specimens or in the ar rangement class, there will be three prizes awarded. There is no entry feo and no admission charge but a silver offering will he taken during the hours the exhibit will be open to the public from two till nine p. m. Any one planning to enter roses must have them placed by 11 a. m. Judging will begin at 12 noon. Mrs. C. L. Kell ogg is general chairman, and Mrs. W. Dillon Chambers is president of the council. We are most anxious to have all Western North Carolina repre sented at this rose exhibit. MORE VISITORS COMING Miss Emily Hastings of Ashe ville is a jruost of her aunt, Mrs. R E. Mumpower. for a few days. Mrs. M. C. Meek of Ward Bel mont college, Nashville, Tenn., will hrrive this week for a visit with Mrs. Mumpower. _ SEE RACES Mr. and Mrs. John Shuman re turned Sunday from a week’s vaca tion to Indianapolis where they attended the automobile races. They also visited relatives and friends in Knoxville and Chase City, Va., during their trip. WILL STAY ALL SUMMER Mrs. A. G. Grunwell of Punta C.orda, Fla., and her sister, Mrs. Ed McCan of Fort Myers, Fla., have arrived to spend the summer at the Grunwell home on Connally street. JOAN DRAKE HOME Joan Drake, student at Berea college, Berea, Ky., is home for the summer holidays. Joan was an honor student in the graduating class of 1950 at’Black Mountain High school. UNDER FLORIDA SUN The Rev. and Mrs. W. H. Armi stead and daughters, Mary Blan ton and Nancy, are enjoying a vacation in Apoka, Fla. GUESTS FROM CHARLESTON Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Rayfield had as week end guests Mrs. Ray field’s brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Bryant, Jr., of Charleston, S. C. BARBARA WAS HOME Miss Barbar Morrow was home from Charlotte for the week end and had as her guests, Miss Becky Simpson and 0. O. Duncan of Charlotte. GUESTS OF MOORES Mr. and Mrs. Carl Moore had as week end guests Mrs. Moore’s sister and son, Mrs. A. C. Breeze and Carl Douglas of Nashville, Tenn. MEDICAL TECHNICIAN Mrs. Florence MacKenzie, med ical technician at Watts hospital, Durham, is spending a three weeks’ vacation with her mother, Mrs. J. L. Shuman. CAMPING TRIP Miss Lou Lindsey, Tommy and Woody Sobol, and Cline and David Atkins, enjoyed a camping trip to Camp Hemlock during the week end. VISIT ROBERT QUEENS Mr. and Mrs. Claude Gambill and daughter, Mary, of Lansing, N. C. visited Mr. and Mrs. Robert Queen over the week end. SPENT M EEK END Barclay K. Read of Washington, D.
