Junior Woman’s Club Praised For Work With Children’s Home The Junior Woman’s Club held its regular monthly meeting Tues day, July 10, at the home of Mrs. Leon Williams. Mrs. E. S. Jack son, president, presided over the business. During the meeting Mrs. Demp sey \\ hitaker, a member of the state advisory board of the Child ren s Home in Greensboro, gave a most interesting report on her recent meeting with the board in that city. She reported that ap proximately 50 babies had been cared for and placed in happy homes through the Junior Wom an’s Club drive last year. Plans for the 1951 drive, through the community Chest, were also dis cussed at the meeting. The club plans to care for a larger num ber of babies in the coming year. The Black Mountain club was highly commended on its work with the home. Members made plans for a rum mage sale and a tea to be held in the month of July. A course in woodworking will be offered this summer by Leonard Billing, formerly of the laboratory and construction department of Americraft, New York City. Mem bers of the resident faculty will offer courses in acting, theatre, voice, and weaving. Although most of the students are in res idence on campus, any of the courses in the special arts pro gram may be taken on a day student basis. Further information may be had by visiting the college and talking to the registrar, Hazel-Frieda Larsen, or any of the instructors. Visitors are in vited and will be welcomed at the office. Black Mountain college again this summer will carry on its program of weekly film showings on Friday evenings. These films as well as concerts, plays, and dance performances will be an nounced weekly. The first show ing in the film series will be on Friday, July 13 at 9 p. m in the dining hall, and will be a Chaplin Festival which consists of “The Cure,” “The Vagabond,” “The Im migrant,” and “One A.
