Miss Evelyn Sprinkle, daughter
of Mr. and' Mrs. Walter G.
Sprinkle of 25 Kola avenue, Ashe
ville, was married to Pfc. Hilliard
Borden Sabiston Jr., of Black
Mountain, son of Mr. and Mrs. H.
B. Sabiston, Sunday afternoon in
the home of her parents.
The Rev. T. A. Groce performed
the double ring ceremony, and a
program of wedding music w-as
presented by Miss Alice Wilde,
pianist.
The vows were spoken before an
improvised altar banked with
white gladiolus, Shasta daisies,
ivy and ferns.
The bride wore a ballerina length
dress made of embroidered ninon
over satin. The dress was fashioned
with high neckline, cap sleeves
and full gathered skirt. Her
shoulder-length veil was attached
to a Juliet cap trimmed with seed
pearls, and she carried a white
Bible topped with an orchid. ,
Mrs. Jack Shook, sister of the i
bride, was matron of honor. She
wore a gown of green embossed <
organdy and carried a bouquet of
pink carnations. 1
Karen Sprinkle, sister of the
bride, and Kay Rector, cousin of (
the bride, were flower girls. The
former wore a frock of pink em
bossed organdy and the latter wore
blue. They carried nosegays of ,
mixed flowers. 1
Following the ceremony a cake- |
cutting was held in the home of \
the bride. Assisting in serving (
were Mrs. Coleman Rector, aunt of
the bride, Mrs. James Turbyfill of i
Charlotte, aunt of the bride and ;
Miss Martha Stevens of Fairview. ]
The bride's mother wore a navy ]
blue crepe dress with navy acces
sories and a corsage of pink cam- !
ations. The bridegroom's mother 1
wore a green and white print .
dress writh white accessories and 1
a corsage of pink carnations. 1
After the cake-cutting the coup
le left for a short wedding trip.
They will reside in Sacramento, ,
Calif. For traveling the bride wore
a gray suit with powder blue ac
cessories. i
Mrs. Sabiston is a graduate of !
Sand Hill High school and attend- ’
ed Appalachian State Teachers 1
college. Mr. Sabiston is a grad
uate of Black Mountain High
school and attended North Car
olina State college. He enlisted in
the Air Forces in December and
is now stationed at Mather Field,
Calif.
