Taylors Celebrate Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. M. C. Taylor cele brated their fourth wedding anni versary Wednesday, Aug. 8, with a luncheon at their home in Swannanoa. Present at the lunch eon were Mr. and Mrs. Max Gord on of Brooklyn, N. Y., who were celebrating their sixth wedding anniversary. Mrs. Gordon is Mr. Taylor’s sister. Others present in cluded Nancy Carolyn and Maxine Gordon, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon, Mr. and Mrs. J. H McKinney, W. K. Walker and daughters, Ann and Joan. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon and children are visiting Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Taylor on Craigmont road. St. James Auxiliary Mrs. Clyde Glenn entertained the St. James Auxiliary of Black Mountain at her home in Grove mont Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 7. Mrs. Charles Aiken, president, presided during the meeting. The feature of the meeting was a splendid article on displaced per sons in the United States and their problems. It was presented by Mrs. Rush Whiteside. Members Sresent were Mrs. Glenn, Mrs. O. I. Alexander, Miss Sally Alex ander, Mrs. F. A. Perley, Mrs. Win. Thompson, Miss Florence Drinker, Miss Minnie Drinker, Mrs. Charles Aiken, Mrs. Rush Whiteside, Mrs. Robert Martin, Miss Adrianna Webbe, Mrs. Wm. Faucette, Mrs. Sarah Kitchen, Miss Carrie Many, and Mrs. Ben Moehler. Guests included Clyde Glenn, Mrs. Oakley Lanier, Miss Constance King, and Mr. and Mrs. Glenn McCutchen. After the meet ing a delightful social hour was enjoyed. Mrs. Glenn served delic ious refreshments on the lawn. Presbyterian Business Women The Business Woman’s Circle of the Presbyterian church held its annual picnic Monday night, Aug. 13, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Connelly in Grove mont. Husbands and other mem bers of the family were guests. A delicious picnic supper was en joyed. Mrs. Arthur Ray Cannon, chairman, presided. The picnic committee was composed of Mrs. Lester Connelly, chairman, Mrs. W. H. McMnrray, Sr., Mrs. George Council, Miss Clara Snyder, and Mrs. Oliver Penland, A report of the orphanage committee was heard. The Bible lesson was taught by Mrs. W. H. McMurray and was a continuation of the study of the Ten Commandments. Those attending the picnic were Mr. and Mrs. James Parks and Brenda, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Mc Murray, Sr., Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Stir in salad dressing and salt; mix until smooth. Add fruit cocktail and mix well. Whip chilled milk with cold rotary beater until fluffy. Add lemon juice; whip until stiff. Fold into fruit mixture. Freeze, without stirring, in automatic refrigerator tray at coldest temperature, or in a mold buried in mixture of 3 parts crushed ice to 1 part ice cream salt. Slice and serve as dessert or salad.
