Yes, Santa is coming. He has already been picked up in the radarscope ami the Black Moun tain merchants are bringing him in. Happy landing, Santa. We will all be looking for you Friday evening at 7 o’clock. All of us here in Black Moun tain have got together and you’ll see all the welcoming things we’ve done to make your visit a hap py one. We got your message that you would come in on State street by jeep and would park at Lance’s Esso station. That will be fine because all the younk folk and we suspect those not so young will be on hand to welcome you when you arrive. You will notice decorations along the route, stores lighted, and doors open. You’ll notice all the people on hand from miles around ready to welcome your smiling spirit. We in Black Moun tain are all so happy that you are coming to gladden the days of this significant season of the year. We’ll all be happy to see you, Santa, because we have somehow got hold of the spirit that makes you the beloved character you are, and you will see it on every hand if you can stay long < enough to get away from the kiddies a moment or two. We have been as busy as bees getting ready for you since we got the glad news that you were coming. We divided ourselves up into groups and set to work. Some of us saw to it that everybody would be on hand to welcome you. Others went out into the country and got lots of greenery and fashioned it into suitable form for holiday effects along the bus iness streets. Others saw to it that a good supply of sweets was on hand for you to pass out to the child ren just in case you didn’t bring any along. Still others knew you wouldn’t —Turn to Page 10, this Sec. Blood Donors Make Record Here By Giving 138 Pints “Although we expected a warm response from blood donor vol unteers during the visit of the mobile blood unit yesterday,” de clared Mrs. Bessie Carr, secretary of the Swannanoa - Black Moun tain chapter of the Red Cross, “we were most pleasantly sur prised not only to be given 138 pints, which tops our record so far, but also to observe what seemed to us a smiling, eager atmosphere all through the day, the real eagerness of the donors, the unusual smoothness of the routines. It was a successful and happy visit of Dr. Frederick S. Wright, his staff of nurses, and 24 volunteer assistants, trained in staff aid and canteen service, who operated the center at the Pres byterian church.” ’ The cooperative effort of the community thus expressed is out standing, with 154 donors report ing.
