Carols will he sung in the cor

a special touch of beauty to be
given by young people themselves
will be the singing of carols at
an Community Christmas tree
this Friday night at about seven
o'clock. Members of the glee club
and band of the Black Mountain
High school and a selected group
of our young people who attend
Stevens-Lee High school will have
the honor of originating this
custom in Black Mountain.
The hand in uniform will lead
the singers, under the direction
of Mrs. Charles Maydwell. If the
weather is unpleasant, the groups
will go to Me.Murray’a Chevrolet
to perform and on to other stores

Drive Safely—
From Page 1, this Sec.
One of the reasons given by
the official for the high winter- j
time accident toll was the in
creased period of darkness com- ;
pared to the light of summer
time. To counteract the accident j
rate, he urged all drivers to turn
on their lights with approaching
darkness and slow down in keep
ing with reduced visibility.
Records show that .1200 people
in the United States died as a
result of traffic accidents in De
cember last year. Of these fatal- j
ities, IKK) involved pedestrians in ,
cities and 2,1*10 involved drivers
or other occupants of vehicles in
rural accidents.
