They came in just ahead of a cold wave which swept across the middle west bringing snow and ice to that part of the country. Guests of the Rev. and Mrs. Elbert F. Hardin are their daugh ter and her husband, Chaplain and Mrs. L. Miller Jackson, Fort Campbell, Ky. Chaplain Jackson has been assigned to service in Tokyo, Japan, to which point he will sail on Feb. 12. After a short visit with her son. Chaplain L. M. Jackson, and wife at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elbert F. Hardin last wee,k Mrs. L. M. Jackson returned to her home in Sumter, S. C., Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. W. I. Willis spent the week end with their daughter and her husband, Dr. and Mrs. J._ T. M. Burnett, and children, Dianne and Michael. They returned home Sunday. Betty Sue Trulock, Charlotte, Entrained To Paul B. Bell The engagement is announced of Miss Betty Sue Trulock of Charlotte, to Paul Buckner Bell of Charlotte. Miss Trulock is the daughter of Mrs. Paul Hines Trulock and the .late Mr. Trulock of Climax, Ga. She attended Climax High school, where she was class pres ident for four years and valedic torian her senior year. She re ceived her A.B. degree in English from Queens college in Charlotte, where she was a member of the student legislature. Student Coun cil, and was president of t''e Student Christian association. While at Queens she was elected to Valkyrie, honorary leadership organization, and to Who’s Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities. She was a member of Phi Mu social sorority and Alpha Kappa Gamma, honor ary leadership fraternity. Miss Trulock is now employed as re ceptionist for Es.so Standard Oil company in Charlotte. She is a member of the Charlotte Spinster’s Club. Mr. Bell is the son of Mrs. George Fisher Bell and the late Dr. Bell of Black Mountain. He attended the city schools of Louis ville, Ky., Montreat college, Rlack Mountain High school and was president of the student body of Lee H. Edwards High school in Asheville. He received his B.S. degree from Wake Forest college and graduated cum laude from Wake Forest Law school. While at Wake Forest he was a member of the Student Council, student legislature, publication board, and served as business manager of the student magazine for two years. He was a member of Pi Kappa Delta, forensic fraternity, Sigma Phi Epsilon, social fraternity, and Phi Alpha Delta, legal fraternity. Mr. Bell is now engaged in the practice of patent law in Char lotte as a partner in the firm of Eaton and Bell. He is a member of the Charlotte Bachelor’s club and the Sharon Hills Country club. RETURN HOME Mr. and Mrs. C. T. Kennedy and daughters have returtied to their home in Clifton Forge, Va., after spending the week end with Mrs. Kennedy’s mother, Mrs. 0. E. Hudgins, and family and friends. Cottage Prayer Band Meets At Edmonds Home The Friday night prayer band on High School road held a prayer meeting in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Edmonds and Dad Ed monds. Those attending were: the Rev. J. C. Franks and Wanda Franks; the Rev. and Mrs. Charlie Hollifield and Mrs. Tom Holli fieid; the Rev. and Mrs. P. M. Crisp; the Rev. and Mrs. Clarence Davis and Mary Cynthia Davis; Mr. and Mrs. Grady Ledbetter; Mrs. O. Q. Sarrett and daughters; Mrs. Norton and Louise Norton; Mrs. Maynard and brother; the Sexton children; Ellen and Billy Bartlett; Mrs. Wayne Rayburn and children; Mrs. Ola Creasman; Arlene Swann; Morris White, and several others. Grady Ledbetter will conduct the prayer service next Friday night in the home of Mrs. Mc Falls, off the Padgett Town road. Everyone is invited to attend these services. Services start at 7:00 p. m. Prayer meeting is held every Wednesday night at East Free Will Baptist church. Time, 7:30.
