RIDGECREST . . . ramblings Business Manager Milliard K. Weeks was in Atlanta and La Grange, Ga., Wednesday and Thursday on business for the as sembly. He conducted prayer ser vice at the First Baptist church, Atlanta, Wednesday evening. The snow Monday morning was a shining surprise to Ridgecrest people. Three inches fell from ten to one o’clock. Instead of “pretty snow flakes” it came down in “snow balls” that splashed when they landed on the ground. So un usually large were they that com ment was heard on their size by many. To look upwards into the onslaught of the falling snow was a delight as the flakes and “balls” came tumbling down. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Biddix spent the week end in Thomasville visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Black, and other relatives and friends. Alice Turner staged a television party for Lavinia Hollifield and Joyce Belcher while they were at home during spring holidays and before they returned to Mars Hill Tuesday. Guests of Mr. and Mrs. Willard K. Weeks Friday of last week were Professor and Mrs. Paul Minault and daughters, Gail and Dee Dee, of Pottstown, Pa., who were on their way to St. Peters burg, Fla., for a vacation at their beach cottage in that city. Prof. Minault, formerly of Paris, teaches French at Hill school in Potts town. The March meeting of the Wom an’s Missionary Society was held with Mrs. Hight C Moore last week of “Moorehaven.” The pres ident, Mrs. W. M. Pate, presided over the business session. Mrs. Charles Jollay, program chairman, presided over the program, which was presented by Miss Rowena Williams. Others taking part were Mrs. Moore and Mrs. ^ • L. Hatcher. Willard K. Weeks spoke at the Old Fort Baptist church Sunday night and showed pictures of young people’s conferences at the assembly. Little Friends Help Chippy Knight Celebrate Birthday There -was much merriment at the E. H. Knight home, Church street, Tuesday afternoon, March 25, when Edward Jr. (Chippy) cele brated his second birthday with a party. A color scheme of green and yellow was carried out in the decorations and refreshments. Yel low bells were used in the living room and an arrangement of jon quils centered the dining room table. Easter rabbits and chickens were given as favors. Birthday cake, ice cream and fruit punch were served by Mrs. Knight, assisted by Mrs. W. A. Allison and Mrs. A. C. Leonard. Mothers and children enjoying the occasion were: Mrs. Tommy Edwards, Cindy and Toni; Mrs. Frank Watkins, Ronnie and Carol; Mrs. Albert Garland, Marshall, Phillip and Lindsey; Mrs. R. M. Crowder and Susan; Mrs. Chester Sobol and Charles Micheal: Mrs. Burton Osteen and Preston; Mrs. John Pellom and Kay.
