T h e Women’s Society’s of Christian Service of Azalea and Bethel Methodist churches held a joint meeting on Friday, March 28. The purpose of these meetings is a study course on “Latin Amer ica,’’ with the Rev. M. M. Work man as teacher. The ladies of the Azalea society acted as host esses. The “May Bell” Bible class of Bethesda Methodist church met Thursday, March 27, at 7:30 o'clock in the home of Mrs. C. H. Powers on old Haw Creek road. The meeting opened with prayer by Mrs. V. H. Buckner. Mrs. Charles Webb, program chairman, introduced the guest speaker, Mrs. J. 0. Crenshaw, who brought an inspiring message on “Life.” Mrs. H. D. Carter gave the scripture reading taken from Matt hew. Mrs. Webb sang ‘‘Take My Life and Let It Be”, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Powers. Mrs. H. J. Buckner closed the program with prayer. Mrs. Tom Reynolds, president, presided over the bus iness session. An auction sale was held on “tacky Easter bonnets” with the proceeds given to the M.Y.S. of the church. Plans were made to hold a rummage sale in April. The social hour followed with the Easter motif carried out in the refreshments served by the hostess. The following members were present: Mrs. W. M. Rober son, Mrs. V. H. Buckner, Mrs. J. F. Moser, Mrs. Don Maney, Mrs. F. E. Beatty, Mrs. James Murray, Mrs. George Young, Mrs. James Cooper, Mfs. Harry Byas, Mrs. W. B. Scarborough, Mrs. Webb, Mrs. J. W. Smith, Mrs. Fred Rea gan, Mrs. H. J. Buckner, Mrs. A. E. Stotesbury, Mrs. Carl Noblett, Mrs. Reynolds, Mrs. Vernon Wil der, Mrs. Carl Deaton, Mrs. H. D. Carter, Mrs. H. C. Miller and the guest speaker, Mrs. Crenshaw. Green, Joe Duffy, Mrs. Karline Duffy, Miss Dell Shap leigh, Mrs. Clyde Stamey, J. W. Marett, Tommy Green, Mrs. G. C. Ensley, T. Holt, Lee Stevens, Mrs. M. W. Holston and Mrs. J. H. Lewis. Those on the entertainment committee were: Mrs. Pauline Green, Mrs. Ruth Winston, Mrs. Sally Edwards, Mrs. Ethel Zell and Mrs. Jessie Corbett. Mrs. N. B. Shepherd was host ess at a meeting of the Haw Creek Garden Club at her home on Plateau road Thursday, March 27. The past president, Mrs. J. O. Crenshaw, installed Mrs. C. H. Mc Cracken as new president.
