Penland and Laurence al’ard and family of south Reems reek visited the Emory Penlands 1st Sunday. A. H. C. Among the visitors at Mountain View church services Sunday morning were Perry White of San ford, N. C., Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Jones, Miss Judy Sawyer and Mrs. Leonard Clark and children of Riceville. Bob Miller and family of At lanta are visiting on North Fork. They and Mrs. Leonard Clark and children had Sunday dinner with the Rev. Chester Millers. We were very glad to have Mrs. Jim Ledbetter with us at church last Sunday. We hope she can come regularly. Mrs. Woodrow Propst and Theo Williams went to sit up with their sick brother in McDowell countv 1 Monday night. Some of them go several times a week. We' think that the high school : band is making rapid progress, ; and that the majorettes are love ly indeed. She ' ittended Assembly’s Training School, Richmond, and the Far 1 Eastern Language School of Yale ' Jniversity. In 1948 she went to iorea as a medical missionary inder the Presbyterian U. S. board if world missions. She was nurs ng in a hospital in Chunju, Korea, vhen the Communists invaded outhern Korea. She remained in Chunju for three weeks before he had to leave and go to Japan, .rater she returned to Korea. She irrived in this country the first if April. Mr. Provost studied at Princeton Seminary and went to Korea in 948 as a missionary under the h-esbyterian U. S. A. board of rorld missions. He remained there or three years. He is now in his country completing his studies it Princeton Theological Seminary ind will graduate in June 1953. loth plan to return to Korea is missionaries. Miss Talmages parents, Dr. and ! drs. J. V. N. Talmage, spent 40 i 'ears as missionaries in Korea and ! ire now on furlough in this coun ry. She is a sister of the Rev. John E. Talmage and Miss Janet 3. Talmage, both missionaries to Corea. OBITUARIES WILLIAM CHARLES MEISS Funeral services were held on \pril 28 in the Church of The loly Redeemer in Detroit, Mich., 'or William Charles Meiss, age >1, who passed away at the Vet erans hospital in Detroit on April !4 following a long illness.
