Blind* of Clara Propst is leaving North Fork to stay for some time at Dream’s End at Ridgecrest. We will miss Clara. Mrs. Ben Strozier of Rockhill, and Mrs. Lavinia Smith of Char lotte spent the week end with their mother, Mrs. James P. Kinard. All three ladies came to visit Minnie and this reporter Saturday night and we had a jolly good time. The mountain laurel around our cottage is in full bloom now. Mr. and Mrs. Jay Willett, who are living at present in the east ern part of the state, spent the week end visiting their chaps around Black Mountain and on North Fork. Mr. Shoemake and family of Greenwood, S. C., are now living in Ray Harrison’s house on North Fork. Mr. Shoemake has a posi tion with the contractors on the Burnett dam. E. M. Hoffman of Last Resort has lost his collie dog, Meescha. (We think that’s the right way to spell it.) He was looking for him on North Fork Sunday. Mr. Hoffman will appreciate any in formation leading to the recovery of this dog. He is a rather dark, narrow-faced collie. Among the many guests at Mountain View this Sunday were the Rev. and Mrs. Jim Isley, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Bergthold, Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Kerlee, Harley Reed, Mrs. Lillie-Bell Cavin, Mr. and Mrs. Burgess, and Mr. Shoemake and family. Mrs. Julius A. Walker is going to Asheville for weekly medical treatments. Visiting us Sunday afternoon and evening were Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bruner and family of East Marion, Mr. and Mrs. Vaden Mar rett and family, Mrs. Sarah Wheeler, and Mr. and Mrs. Gray son Woody. Joe Bruner took a number of color pictures of the laurel blossoms. He is a member of the Marion camera club. Will iam Brow and T. D. de Vore were also taking color pictures Sunday afternoon. Vaden Marret was very hoarse from a bad throat condi tion. BROAD RIVER By Mrs. M. M. Mr. Morgan is the son of Mrs. Nannie Belle Morgan and the late Charles Morgan of Flat Creek. Mrs. Mor gan was the former Carolyn Plem mons, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Plemmons. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Elliott had as guests Mr. Elliotts brother and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Elliott and daughter, Peggie, of lower Cedar Creek. Mr. and Mrs. Higgins Ledbet ter and daughter, Barbara, and L. B. Ledbetter went to Marion on business last Saturday. Visitors at Stone Mountain church last Sunday were Shirley Davis, Barbara Ledbetter and Mr. and Mrs. Jessie Talton and daugh ter, Barbara. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Gilliam and children of upper Cedar Creek and Howard’s sister, Mrs. Lucille Allison, and daughters of Old Fort attended the memorial ser vice at Middle Fork last Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Randolph Taylor were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. John Lytle on Flat Creek last Sunday. Mrs. W. F. Stroud suffered a broken wrist in a fall near her home last Saturday. Little Taylor Morris, son of Mr. and Mrs. Her man Morris, dislocated his elbow at his home last Saturday. Both were treated at Mission hospital in Asheville. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Taylor of Hendersonville and the Rev. Mr. Earley of Leicester were supper guests of Miss Essie Taylor and Mrs. Lou Lytle last Sunday even ing. The Rev. Mr. Earley showed quite a number of pictures he had taken on his tour of the Holy Land. Also he gave an interesting description of the deplorable con dition of the people in that coun try. It made me feel that many of us Americans don’t appreciate our freedom in America as we should. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Morris had as guests last Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Morris and daugh ters, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Morris, Sr., Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Taylor, HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS HONORED AT CHURCH Members of the Black Moun tain High school senior class who attend the First Baptist church and their parents were honored with a sandwich supper at the church last week. The following members of the class attended: Doris Higgin botham, Philip McMahan, Rita Gasperson, George Wells, William Taylor, and Dick Ramsey. Among the 32 guests were the Rev. W. A. Huneycutt, pastor, and Cecil Nanney, who was a member of the first graduating class at the Black Mountain High school in 1923. The supper was sponsored by the adult department of the training union of the church. Kenneth and James Lytle, Mrs. W. F. Stroud and daughters, Miss Ruth Bulah Stroud and Mrs. John Nodolski and daughter, Carol Ann. Mr. and Mrs. J. A.
