There were Fourteen old members, two new members and five visitors. Mrs. Edith Bennett, circle chairman pre sided and Mrs. Virginia Carlan opened the meeting with prayer. During the recent bereavement of the Jones family the circle served supper at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Grat Ballard. In apprecia tion the family insisted on paying the circle fifteen dollars which they divided equally into the flower fund, Community Mission fund and Lottie Moon Christmas offering. Mrs. George Penley, program chairman, had charge of the pro gram, assisted by Mrs. Joe Rec tor and Mrs. Mary Allen. Mrs Virginia Carland, the former Miss Virginia Fowler, told interesting things about different missionar ies she had heard speak. Mrs, Bennett closed the meeting with prayer. During the social hour that fo”owed five members were hon ored for birthdays during the month. Mrs. O. R. Hardin, Mrs G. B. Wilkie, Mrs. Neil Talent Mrs. H. H. Ingle and Mrs. W. P Ford. Others present not already mentioned were Mrs. Effie Mc Mahan, Mrs. J. P. Bennett, Mrs J. V. Padgett, Mrs. Bill Rhymer and Mrs. Harry McPeters. Refreshments were served by the hostess to others present not already mentioned, Mrs. P. A. Bailey, Mrs. Avery Buchanan, Mrs. ‘Ragan Reed. Visitors were Mrs. J. H. McKinney, Mrs. Har rison and Mrs. A. J. Cloyd. The Neale Young circle met at the home of Mrs. Willard Walker - Tuesday night, Nov. 4, with eight members present. Mrs. M. C. Taylor was in charge of the pro gram. Those taking part were Mrs. Gladys Shaver, Mrs. Emmett Lovelace, Mrs. Biddie Outlaw and Mrs. Taylor. The subject was based on W. M .U. Training School and the part the Lottie Moon Christmas offering played in mak ing these advantages possible. The devotional was carried out in each one choosing a Bible verse and reading it from the rock of promises then all joining in sent ence prayers. Mrs. D. L. Shaver presided "during the business ses sion. The circle bought two pair of pajamas to be given to girls at the Orthopedic Home. Follow ing the program refreshments were served by Mrs. Walker to those present. Mrs. Walter Aiken, Mrs. Foster Stuart, Mrs. Emmett Love lace, Mrs. Biddie Outlaw, Mrs. J. H. The Ladies Auxiliary of the Swannanoa Free Will Baptist church met Tuesday night Nov. 4, at the church with nine members present. The program was opened with singing of a hymn and pray er led by Mrs. L. B. Buchanan. After the business session the La dies Auxiliary met in the auditor ium with the Brotherhood for Bi ble study and discussion taken from St. John chapter 2, conducted by Rev. R. C. Mumpower. Mum power and Mrs. Buchanan. Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Johnson was honored with a housewarming and linen shower in their new home on Buckeye road Saturday night Nov. 8. Mrs. Grady Mc Crain and Mrs. M. C. Taylor were hostesses. Several neighbors and friends enjoyed the evening of fel lowship and inspecting their new home and welcoming them in tht community to live. Miss Anne Davidson was hon ored by her mother, Mrs. Robert Davidson on her fourth birthdaj with birthday party Wednesday afternoon Nov. 5, at three o’clock The children enjoyed games both inside and outside. The double ring ceremony was used. Willard Walker served as best man and Miss Alice Joan Walker, niece of the bride was maid of honor. The bride wore a navy blue suit with light blue ac cessories and a purple throated orchid corsage. Her earrings were a gift of the bridegroom. Guests for the ceremony included Mr. and Mr?. M. C.
