A. met Tuesday night. Nov. 25, at the home of Mrs. Fred McCuen. Peggy Edmunds, president, gave the de votionals and presided over the business session. Jackie Robinson, program chairman, had charge of the program entitled “The Land Where Jesus Walked.” Those tak ing part were Sandra Ballard and Peggy Edmunds. Others attending the meeting were Bea Carson, Shirley Sehion, Patsy Patton. Yvonne Wagner, Barbara Curtis and a new member. Juanita Sims. At the close of the meeting names •were drawn for exchange of Christmas presents and refresh ments served. The next meeting will be at the home of Miss Wag ner. Presbyterian Circle No. 1 Circle No. 1 of the Swanpanoa Presbyterian church met Monday afternoon at 2:30 at the home of Miss Jean Merchant. The meeting was opened with the devotionals led by Mrs. 0. L. Merchant. The Bible lesson was taught by Mrs. Dixon Connelly from Colossians third chapter, verses 12 through 17. Mrs. A. B. Whitt presented the program on “Annuities and Relief.” and also presided over the business session. Members brought Christmas packages to be delivered to a patient at the W. N.C. Sanatorium at Christmas time. Refreshmenas were served by the hostess to others present: Mrs. Elizabeth Connelly, Mrs. Er win Davidson. Mrs. G. B. Talbot. Mrs. Yancey Fortune. Mrs. Charles Porter. Mrs. Frederick Volbeda. Mrs. Elizabeth Brittain, Mrs. Eu gene Loven and a visitor, Mrs. Elwood Carter. Presbyterian Circle No. 2 Circle No. 2 of the Presbyterian church met Monday afternoon at the home of Mrs. F. M. Jordan at 2:30. Mrs. J. M. Buckner pre sented the program on “Annuities and Relief” and Mrs. W. A. Ward taught the Bible lesson from the Book of Colossians. Mrs. Hubert Clapp, chairman, presided. Plans were discussed during the bus iness session to remember with gifts at Christmas time a boy at the Mountain Orphanage, a patient at the W.N.C. San. and an elderly person who is a shut-in. A social hour followed the program and refreshments were served to ad ditional members present: Mrs. John Brown. Mrs. George White, Mrs. D. W. Harrison. Sr., and Mrs. E. N. Howell. Mrs. Pansy Bryant Honored Mrs. James Matthews and Mrs. Alyre Bastrache honored their mother, Mrs. Pansy Bryant, with a surprise buffet supper celebrat ing her birthday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bastrache, 101 Rich mond avenue. Wednesday evening, Nov. 26 at 6 o’clock. Mrs. Bryant received many lovely gifts and everyone had an enjoyable time. Miss Betty Tipton, Mrs. Whitt Gibson, Mrs. W. A. Plummer. Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Matthews were unable to attend but sent gifts. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Allen, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Allen and Jo Ann, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Allen and Billy, Mr. and ARTHRITIS! I have been wonderfully blessed in being restored to active life after being crippled in nearly every joint of my body and with muscular soreness from head to foot. I had Rheumatoid Arthritis and other forms of Rheumatism, hands deformed and my ankles were set. American Home Group The American Home group of ;he Swannanoa Woman’s club met Monday night, Nov. 24. at the home of Mrs. Arnold Buckner with Mrs. Holly Hipp. Mrs. Harold Patton and Mrs. J. J. Walden as associate hostesses. The president, Mrs. Murlin Adcock, called the meeting to order. Miss Nancy Wrenn spoke on “Better Schools for our Children”, and stressed the five different goals which will be presented at the 1953 North Carolina general assembly. Mrs. Robert Davidson, president of the Woman's club, urged all members at attend the general meeting Wednesday, Dec. 3. at the home of Mrs. J. M. Buckner. Mrs. S. E. Steele gave a report from the wel fare committee. Mrs. nipp intro duced Mrs. H. Y. Hyder of Bon Marche Store for Homes. Mrs. Hyder presented the program and demonstrated cake decorating and baking. Jr., a senior al State college, spent Thanksgiving with his parents, Mr. and Mrs William Berner. Mrs. Jasper Ensley is in room 315 at St. Joseph’s hospital.
