Sarti, general man ager of the Old Fort Finishing Plant, has resigned from United Merchants and Manufacturers, Inc., as of June 30, it was announced this week. He has been in poor health for some time past and is taking an extended vacation and rest in Florida. His future plans are un known. Mr. Sarti came to Old Fort in 1946 when the Finishing Plant was being constructed, and has been in charge of operations ever since. His successor as manager of the plant has not yet been an nounced. Since coming here in 1946 Mr. and Mrs. Sarti have lived on Blue Ridge road. They have three children, George, Jr. of the U. S. Classes will be held each morning from 9 to 12 o’clock for a period of 10 days. All children from 3 through 16 years of age are invited to attend. The cream of the softball talent of this mountain area will be as sembled for two games which will put the Champion YMCA of Can ton, state champions and leading team of the league, against a picked all-star squad from the other five clubs of the loop. Superior Cleaners and Ander son-Brown Patrol of Asheville, the Cherokee American Legion, Champion Mill of Canton, and the Black Mountain American Legion will each send their four top players to participate in the twin bill against the state champs. The all-stars will feature the pitching of Phil Smith of Chero kee, George Turbyfill of Superior Cleaners, and Ken Rudeen of Anderson-Brown, all of whom have earned All State honors in the past. The Champion Y roster lists nine players who have been All State at one time or another in the past four years. They are Manager Windy Sams. Nazi Miller, Willie Waldroop, Bobby Mease, Boyd Allen, George Price, Clyde Miller, Jim Rhea and Speedy Stamey. Other outstanding players for the All-Stars will be Emmett Dietz, George Farlow and Bo Mc Cale from Superior Cleaners; J. B. Stephenson, D. A. Wilson, A. J. Reno and Weldon Goolsby from Champion Mill; Everett Stephen son, Jim Poteat, Ed Calloway and Wilbur Waters from Black Moun tain; David Saloli, Bull Jackson, and John Bradley from Cherokee; and Tom Posey, Tom Robertson, and Tom Holcombe from Anderson Brown.
