W. Francy Post at Oteen. Arthur Smith, chief of special services, spoke briefly of what the volunteer worker meant to the pa tients and introduced Mrs. R. E. Noland, incoming hospital repre sentative. Mrs. Daniels, district committee woman, presented Mrs. Johnson, Mrs. Smolinski, and Mrs. Noland with corsages. The hall was decorated with ar rangements of fall flowers and candles. Refreshments were served dur ing the social hours, and Mrs. Ethel Bailey, past president of Oteen Unit, presided at the punch bowl. MERCHANT VISITORS Miss Laura Merchant of Raleigh is spending a few days with her brother, O. L. Merchant and fam ily in Swannanoa. Rev. Grant Merchant of Lawton, Okla., who has spent most of the summer with his brother and fam ily in Swannanoa, will leave Thursday for Knoxville, Tenn. From there he will go to Cleve land, Ohio, for a short stay before returning to his home in Okla homa. Dr. and Mrs. D. J. Merchant and small daughter Nancy Adele spent last week with Dr. Merchant’s par ents, Mr. and Mrs. O. L. Merchant and his sister, Miss Jean Mer chant. They flew to Florida for a week with Mrs. Merchant’s moth er, Mrs. Adelaide Yeager of Dune din and will stop for another week in Swannanoa before returning to Ann Arbor, Mich., where Dr. Mer chant teaches in the university. Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Lea and two children of Chattanooga, Tenn., visited Mr. and Mrs. 0. L. Mer chant and family briefly last week end.
