Miss Sarah Childers, who has been employed by Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Ownbey for some time, has been called home on account of the illness of her mother, Mrs. Henry Childers in Candler. Mr. and Mrs. V. M. Elliott in Black Mountain had as dinner guests Thanksgiving Mr. Elliott's parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. M. El liott, and son Yewitt and Mrs. El liott’s brothers, Joe and Luny Gil liam of Broad River. Mr. and Mrs. Overcash visited Mrs. Overcash's sister and hus band, Mr. and Mrs. Ormond Park er, at Mill Springs last Sunday. Miss Pearl Gilliam spent Thanks giving with Mr. and Mrs. Potete in Inman, S. C. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Nelon of Black Mountain visited Mr. and Mrs. Joe Nelon and family last Sunday. L. B. Tommy Davis of Upper Cedar Creek, who had a severe stroke last week, is a patient in Marion hospital. M. Howie Well we had some cold weather for the past week. We also had some snow for Thanksgiving morn ing. As soon as the sun came up it all melted away. H. G. Morgan and son Herman spent Thanksgiving in McDowell rabbit hunting. They killed sev en rabbits. Mr. and Mrs. Grady Morgan also spent Thanksgiving in Mc Dowell visiting Grady’s sister, Mrs. Arthur Lavender. Lawrence Howie of Longs Branch, who has been in the W. N. C. Sanatorium since last Ap'il, got. a three-day leave this past week. He spent Friday, Satur day, and Sunday at his home on Longs Branch road. Every one was glad to see him home. We hope he gets to come home soon for keeps. He is really looking well says he is feeling fine. The C'. M. Howies and Mrs. Burnette had quite a few visitors Sunday. Mrs. Dorothy Morgan and little son were dinner guests of the Howies Sunday. Those vis iting the Howies in the afternoon were Stokley Brooks, Mr. and Mrs. Elmore Burnette, Mr. and Mrs. McKinley Burnette, their daughter and granddaughter, and Mrs. Burnett's nephew and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Cline Genkins of Asheville. Mrs. Ethel Clay and Mrs. Carl Thomas of Longs Branch and Mrs. Clay’s mother-in-law, Mrs. 1’ig deon, and son, her daughter and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Davis, all of Curry, N. C., visited the C. M. Howies Friday afternoon. Mrs. Davis and her mother rendered us some very inspiring music on the piano. We all enjoyed it very ; much. Aunt Ida Morgan of Longs Brancn toad has been very sick with a cold. She went to the doc I tor Satui day. Sami.tie Wadell is still in the I hospital in a serious condition. Mr. Hensley’s baby of Long Branch road is still in the hos pital with very little, if any, irn j provement. Thomas G. Hall of Longs Branch road spent Thanksgiving at his old home in Murphy, N. C. .1. Lunsford of Beaverdsm attended morning ser [ vice at the Bee Tree Baptist church Sunday. They visited Lawrence Howie and were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hall. They and the T. 0. Lunsfords also vis ited the C. M. Howies Sunday af ternoon. Mrs. Syble Lunsford, grand I daughter of Mrs. W. C. Burnette, her husband and children visited Mrs. Burnette and the C. M. How ies Sunday night. Mr. Suttles of Piney Grove and father of Doyce Suttles suffered a heart attack and pa-ed away Monday. Nov. 2d. He was buried j on Thanksgiving day. Lawrence Howie returned to the Sanatorium Sunday afternoon. W. G. Harrison took him back. Among those visiting him while at home were Mr. and Mrs. C. M.
