Peekin' Through The KEYHOLE , . . With LIB By Elizabeth Dinwiddle Mrs. J. L. Koonce and sons Jim and Bill, returned Monday from a two weeks’ visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Hedrick of Southern Fines. They also visited Mrs. Koonce’s infant nephew, Bill Wood, of Sanford. Mr. Koonce drove down over the week-end and brought them home. J. E. Farrior of Tracy City, Tenn., is visiting his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Nanney for an indefinite period. Miss Sara Moseley will go to Charlotte Thursday (today) to be with her mother, Mrs. C. A. Mose ley, who will observe her 94th birthday anniversary on Friday. Mrs. S. L. 'Woodward and Miss Lily Woods will accompany her, Miss Woods will go on to Davidson to visit friends. Mrs. Anne Sharp Harrison, vice regent of the Ruth Davidson chap ter of the Daughters of the Amer ican Revolution and newly electee district vice regent, ha- returned from the D. A. R. state convention held in Durham. Dr. William Henry Perrin of Union, S. C., uncle of Mrs. Charles Hawkins, died last Sunday follow ing a long illness. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Gragg, who are spending the winter in Flori da, were called home last week due to the death of Mrs. Gragg's fath er, Sam R. Ammons of Andrews. They will return to Jacksonville this week-end. Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Wilson vis ited their son Cecil at the Univers ity, Chapel Hill, over the week end. Mrs. C. F. Seawright has return ed from Edgefield, S. C., and is making her home with Mrs. Rich ard Seawright. Mrs. J. K. Peterson has returned from a five months visit with relatives and friends in Wilming ton, Ivanhoe and Raleigh. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. V. C. N’anney over the week-end were Mr. and Mrs. Paul Israel and Keith, Mrs. Margaret Peterson and Mrs. Ernestine Gallon and Jeanie, all of West Asheville. Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Long visited their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Cash and Libby, of Bryson City over the week-end. Pvt. Ray Ma-tin of Camp Gor don, Ga., recently spent several days with his sister, Mrs. C. J. Wilson, and family. Stuart Byron of State College, Raleigh, and his roommate, Maur ice Bauchard, spent the w'eek-end with Stuart’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. Gordon Byron. Mrs. Mae Morrison and Miss Ruby Owenby of Asheville spent last week with Mrs. Morrison’s daughter, Mrs. Earl Lowery, and family. Miss Owenby is a sister of Mrs. Lowery. Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Turner and children, who have been making their home in Perry Point, Md., are now living in Ridgecrest. Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Longeoy, Jr., and Mrs. D. P. Dinwiddie visited Mr. and Mrs. Burton Osteen and Sons, Preston and David, in the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Lusk and Rickey in Charleston, S. over the week-end. A 3cc and Mrs. Onley G. Guffey and daughter Chris, arrived last Saturday for a visit with her par ents. Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Martin. A 3c Guffey has just returned from duty in Alaska. Miss Alice Turner will leave Sat urday morning for Charlotte, where she will be affiliated with the Union National bank. Mrs. Thomas Sharp, director of district one and two for radio and television and vice president of the Asheville Chapter of the Unit ed Daughters of Confederacy, has returned from the planninc con vention of the U. D. C. held in Pine Hurst where she represented the president, Mrs. John Stevens of Asheville. Mrs. Sharp is scholar ship chairman also. Joe Foster of State College, Ra leigh, spent the week-end here in the home of his sister, Mrs. Jame? Atkins. Mrs. Dan McAfee of Blue Ridge, Ga„ is visiting Mr. and Mrs. George McAfee and daughters for a few days. Last Thursday the Halls at Fair lawn Lodge had as luncheon guests Mrs. Chester Spies, Misses Mary, Lela and Bertha Walters, Miss Mary MacKay, and Mrs. H. E. Stinchcomb. Mr. and Mrs. J. 0. Williams have returned from a vacation in Florida. En route home they stopped in Charlotte to visit Mr. and Mrs. John P. Williams and son, Wayne, and Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Evans, Kathy and Jean. Kathy returned home with her grandpar ents for a few days’ visit. Her parents came for her over the week-end. Mrs. Alton White and Miss Eliz abeth Sloan of Charlotte spent the week-end with Miss Sara Moseley, Montreat road. Mr. and Mrs. James Uzzell and daughters spent the week-end in Demorest, Ga., visiting the George Harts. Mr. Hart was formerly with the Western Sanatorium and is now the administrator for the Habersham County hospital. Mrs. A. A. Gregg has sold her flower shop in Hobe Sound, Fla., and expects to return to Black Mountain in the near future. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Ford and Andrea had as their week-end guests Mrs. llie West, Bob West, and Davey Robinson of Newport, Tenn. Chester Sobol spent from Mon day to Friday of last week in New York attending to business. Dan Turner and George Ledford of Asheville left last Friday for a two weeks' vacation in Miami, Fla. Max Woodcock won first place in the Heart Fund benefit bridge session conducted by the Asheville Unit, American Contract Bridge league held in the George Vander bilt hotel last week. Mr. and Mrs. Forest Austin Mrs. J. H. Ledbetter, and Charles Biddix of Asheville visited the Austin’s daughter Betty at Berea School of Nursing over the week end. They attended the capping exercises, at which time Betty re ceived her cap. On Sunday they all made a trip to Lexington, Ky Mrs. Louise Fowler and a friend of Thomasville visited the T. M Girl Scout Troop 52 met in the Fellowship room of the Presbyter ian church March 3, 1954. The meeting was called to order. — S. D. Wiggin, our new troop com mittee chairman, >vas present at Farr family Monday night. Mrs. Fowler is Mrs. Farr’s sister. Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Miller have returned to their home here after spending the winter in Holly Hill, Fla. Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Huffman had as week-end guests Mrs. Huff man’s brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Goodnight Jr., of Mt. Ulla, N. C. Mrs. Brody Warren and Steve spent the week-end with her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Smith, in Morganton. Since this week is Girl Scout week, we divided into three groups to plan skits on health and -afety and to present them to the troop at our meeting on March 10. Frances Kaplan and Peggy Cod ec attended a round table discus sion on Scouting. Troop repre sentatives from the following towns were present: Black Moun tain. Swannanoa, Asheville, West Asheville, Canton, and Wavnes ville. We were happy to have two vis itors. Gloria Jean Brookshire and Carolyn Pressley attend our meet ing. Troop members attending the meeting were: Ann Ham. Marie Benge, Donna Dotson, Barbara Babb, Frances Kaplan, Bronte Carpenter, Melba Riddle, J eggy Cooley, and the leader, Mrs. Kap lan.
