‘ Mr. and Mrs. Henry Moring have
started housekeeping in the home
of Henry's childhood. We wish

Beacon.
I guess the editorial staff will
notice that I have a new ribbon.
It’s funny how a certain thing
makes you think of a certain per
son. When I sit down at this an
tiquated typewriter 1 often think
of Mary Sue Reed, that charming
young lady whose picture was in
last week’s News, you know I
bought the machine from her sev
eral years ago. I probably bought
the ribbon in honor of her gradua
tion from nursing school.
I got lost in the Beacon the oth
er night, the worst thing about it
was that I was dragging a 950 lb.
bale of rayon after me on a hand
truck.
Is an elderly man that tries his
fortune with daisies a doddering
old fool, or a romanticist?
Mrs. Edith Matthews of Ashe
ville was our house guest this
week-end. Mrs. Matthews is Min
nie’s aunt.
Joe and Polly Brunei and fam
ily of East Marion had Sunday
dinner with us. Mrs. Pink Lewis,

Mr. and Mrs. George Summer
and small son “Buddy” of New
berry, S. C., are spending a week
in this section. The Summers came
here on their honeymoon several
years ago, and have tried to come
back each year at the same time.
The Summer family presented our
church with a beautiful picture of
Christ at the morning service this
Sunday in memory of their be
loved mother, Mrs. Essie Summer
Miller. We deeply appreciate this
lovely gift.
Lewis. The next meeting will be
at the home of June Holston.

The 88 Club had a cozy meeting
in the educational rooms of the
church Sunday afternoon. We had
as guests Mr. and Mrs. Mac Bur
nette, Mrs. Della Hurst, Mrs. N.
L. Perkins, Mr. Charlie Stancil,
and two of Bob Cole’s children all
of Ridgecrest. Mac made a most
entertaining talk about the his
tory of our church, and our be
loved Peai'l played a medley of
hymns on her accordion. After
the meeting, we went over to the
dam with Mrs. Perkins and Mr.
Stancil.
Mrs. Bascom Burnette has been
in the Mission hospital taking
treatment for sometime, but we
understand that she was to come j
home on Sunday.
Baxter Chandler and Thelma
Williams are definitely “that way” |
about each other.
Mrs. Mallie Burnette Carver of |
Greensboro is dangerously ill. Mrs.
Carver was born and reared on
North Fork, and has many friends
in this community.
George Burnette is doing some
inside finish work on the home
of the Bob Hauths.
Our road work is coming right
along, maybe next week I will give
you some recollections about this
old road.
Betty Jean Shook’s dog, Chief,
is seriously sick.
