The Swannanoa Finer Carolina
committee met Tuesday, Sept, 7.
in the community clubhouse to dis
cuss and make final plans for
completing the five projects which
were chosen this year The con
test will be concluded Dec 1. and
the committee is working hard
to see that all five projects will
be completed and Swannanoa will
win the UK) points which arc nec
essary to complete the scrap book
from which the judges make their
decision.
The judges are impartial non
residents of the Finer Carolina
area and will determine which
town has the most illustrious and
worthwhile projects and should be
awarded the 24 prizes, totaling
$6,750.00 in cash for outstanding
community achievement and de
velopments.
The Swannanoa projects are:
No. 1—Which is sponsored by
the Woman's club, will be com
pleted as soon as the walls are
painted in the halls, lobby and
wash rooms in the clubhouse. This
work will be started very soon.
No. 2—Sponsored by the Men's
club, will be completed as soon
as concrete platform landing and
steps are finished on the north
side of the clubhouse and alum
inum canopies installed over four
outside doors
No. 3—Sponsored by the Garden
department, will run to the end
of the year since this is mainly
work which is done in conjunc
tion with the Parent Teachers
Assc.. such as educational slides
for the school children, nature
studies, planting of shrubbery, etc.

favorable comment since they are
mostly on the highway and are
easily seen by all passers-by.

ants’ Association, will also rur
until the end of the year. A num
ber of outstanding improvements
have been made in the business
district—sidewalks laid, ditches
drained and parking facilities
made possible for shoppers in the
area.
