From Page 1
cording to his version: "Why you
didn't come close to catching that
pass. You trapped it on fhe so
cond hop and turned as if to throw
to first base because you forgot
and thought you were playing base
ball. Reminded that the referee
called it a TD. his Explanation
was: "Sure he GAVE it to us. But
I had given him a going over on
the play before and he was trying
to even things up. That was pro
bably the first time in history that
a touchdown was scored on the
second hop."
Now listen to the quarterback,
the guy who threw it: “A touch
down. sure it was a touchdown
pass. But anybody could have
caught it. It was nice and easy,
soft and smooth as silk. All you
had to do was reach up and hold
your hands and I hit you right on
the button. You couldn't have
dropped it if you'd tried.”
Those are the three versions.
Take your pick. Hiwassee agrees
with Reeves. What really hap
pened is a secret.
