Corporal and Mrs. Boh Adkins and daughter, Dehra Anne of Fort Knox, spent the week-end at the home of Mrs. Etta Morrison. He is a friend of her son, Corporal Terry Morrison. Mrs. Brady Skidmore, Mrs. Jes sica (Jibbs. and Miss Katie Silver attended the YN^X Sumac concert at the Asheville City Auditorium Monday evening. All-Star Gold Medal Tournament. „ The McDowell County Wildlife Club Basketball tournament is un derway at the Old Fort High school gym. The first game start ed at 6:00 p. m. Monday. There will be four action-packed game per night. Admission will he 26c and 50c with the exception of the final night which will be 15c and 75c. The games will be held during the week March 7-12. J. W. Ross, age 91, RFD 1, Old Fort, who has been a patient in Marion General hospital for two weeks is reported to he in a crit ical condition. The Philadelphia Philharmonic Orchestra appeared in Asheville last week, and two of the members had a very pleasant surprise when Dr. and Mrs. Jerry Snyder, who attended the concert, took them out to dinner. The two musicians were old acquaintances of the Sny ders, but had not been aware of the fact that the Snyders had moved to this part of the South. Mrs. Lillian Conner, who has 1 spent the winter with relatives in Old Fort, has returned to her home in Pennsylvania. She motored hack with her daughter Shirley and her son Hyams Conner, also of ^ Pennsylvania. The Conners were 1 for a long time residents of Old Fort. Marriage Announced. Mr; and Mrs. Herman Vess of ' Old Fort have announced the mar riage of their daughter, Lora, to , Harry Wescott of Kingsport, Tenn. Friday, Feb. 25 at First Methodist i •hurch in Kingsport. The bride was a graduate of Old 1 Fort High school and has been smployed in Kingsport for the past four years as a secretary far an nsurance agency.
