Naomi Elliott of Boone college spent Easter with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. V. M. Elliott, her brothers Mark and Dan, and her sister Anne in Black Mountain. We had as guests last Sunday afternoon my nephew and wife, the Rev. and Mrs. L. O. Vess of Buckeye Cove. We were sorry to hear of the death of Mrs. Thurl Taylor of Henderson county. Mrs. Taylor was bom and reared on Broad River and was the daughter of the late Mr. Mrs. Johnson Ledbetter. Our he... t felt sympathy goes out to her bereaved husband and daughter and other relatives. Mrs. Taylor’s sister, Mrs. Walker Elliott, who had a severe stroke recently, is somewhat improved. —Rumor has it that the dog has been relegated to second place. ‘Tis said that “man’s best friend” is now the UNITED STATES SAVINGS BOND. All qualified voters are also hereby not ified that they shall be ineligible to vote in the Town election to be held on May 3rd, 1955 un less registered on above dates. The reason for the calling of the new registration is that none has been held since 1917 and the old registration is dilapidated and in places the names are unintelligible. All persons who have been residents of the State of North Carolina for at least one year and the Town of Black Mountain thirty days, who are over 21 years old and can read and write, will be eligible to register and vote.
