Dees, who has been quite ill but is much improved at this time. Miss Nancy Hester returned to Oberlin college, Oberlin. Ohio, on Sunday after spending the spring holidays with her parents. Mr. and Mrs Frank Redfearn of Monroe spent several days last week at their home here. Alfred Callison stopped over the week end en route from San Ra fel, Calif., to Winston-Salem to visit his father. A. G. Callison, and Mrs. Callison. He is making the trip by plane. Miss Betty Austin of Cincinnati General hospital. Cincinnati, Ohio, spent the week end with her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Forest Austin. Betty made the trip by plane. Mr. and Mrs Walter Davis and son Ray spent the week end in Birmingham with their son-in-law and daughter. Dr. and Mrs. Lee Bennett. Lawrence Allen, U.S.N., was home from Norfolk. Va„ to spend the week end with his parents. Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Allen. Don McDougle is spending a leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. 0. McDougle. He has been stationed at Paris Island but will be transferred to Camp Lejeune at the expiration of his leave. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Hester and Nancy were called to uecatur. Ga., last week because of the death of Mrs. Kester s brother, who was injured in an automobile ac cident in February Roy L. Russell spent the past week end in Columbia, S. C., visit ing his brother Floyd and family, and his mother Mrs lievah Russell, who came up from Atlanta. Mr. and Mrs. R T. Greene were dinner guests ol Mr. and Mrs. Dave Blanton in Marion last Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. John Villarosa and son Johnny are visiting her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. L. O. Poteat. They are en route from San Rafel, Calif., to Aberdeen, Md. Mr. Villarosa is affiliated with Sperry Engineering co. and they will make their home in Aberdeen Mrs. Jones Earl Corwin will ar rive this week from Decatur, 111., to spend some time at her home here. Mr. and Mrs. T. L. Jones have arrived home after spending the winter in Fort Pierce, Fla. Mr. and Mrs. John J. O’Connor and Dennis spent Friday and Sat urday with Mr. and Mrs. Joe Sell ers in Statesville. Miss Eleanor Miller of Langley Air Force base. Ya.. is visiting her mother. Mrs. C. D Miller, and her brother, Francis Miller, for several days. June Glenn, Jr., chief photo grapher for the Asheville Citizen, will attend the sixth annual Southern short course in press photography at the university, Chapel Hill, from Thursday to Saturday of this week. Guests of the Henry Wares at Blue Ridge last Wednesday thru Friday were Mrs. Clara S. Craig. Billy Craig, and Nancy Dunshee of Starksville. Miss., and Shirley Wells of Knoxville, Tenn. Mr. and Mrs. Zeb Sawyer will leave Thursday for Coral Gables. Fla., where they will be the guests of Miv and Mrs. L. ,1. Tamm. They are going especially to attend the Tamms' golden wedding aimers ary reception. April 18. from 2 to 8 p.m. at their home. They will also visit their daughter and fam ily. Bingham Gragg attended the 27th annual convention of North Carolina Photographers' associa tion in Winston-Salem from Sun day through Tuesday of last week. The convention was held at the Hotel Robert E. Lee Mrs. W. C. Klotz returned to her home in Toronto, Canada, last Monday after spending three weeks with her family, the Halls of “Fairlawn Lodge”. Miss Giavich Dies In Texas Miss Elizabeth Ann Giavich. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward GJavich of Waynesville, former residents of Black Mountain, died Sunday, April 10, in Harlingen. Texas, after a short illness. She is the niece of Mrs. H. A. Kerlee. Mrs. •). A. Padgett and Bascombe Burnette of Black Mountain and Mrs. Fred Wilson of Winston Salem. She was a graduate of Waynes ville Township High school, Wom an's College, University of North Carolina. Greensboro' and former ly held a position as registered technician with Biltmore hospital and Haywood County Health de partment. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon in Waynes ville.
