Outdoor Ad Co's Receive Warning From H. Dept. In an effort to stop the unlawful cutting of trees and shrubs on the highway right of way by outdoor advertising companies, Highway Chairman A. H. Graham recently wrote to all the outdoor advertis ers reminding them of the State’s statute prohibiting cutting. The statute provides that no tree or shrub on any State road or State highway right of way oth er than streets not maintained by the Highway Commission in cities and towns-—shall he trimmed or removed without a written permit from the Highway Commission. A year ago, in December, 1954, Graham wrote the outdoor adver tisers asking for their voluntary compliance with the law regarding roadside cutting. In the eleven months since, he reported, "there have Been fre quent instances of cutting or trim ming of trees or shrubs on high way right of way -opening views to commercial advertising signs— without permission from the High way Commission.” Effective immediately, he wrote, “permission for cutting or trim ming of trees or shrubs on high way right of way must he obtained from the landscape supervisor for the Divison involved.'' From now on, any permissible cutting or trimming must be done in the presence of • landscape superrisor or hi* ropresonUtlTe. Anyone who rut* or tnmi tree* without permission on the highway ri(fht of way will be subject to prosecution, he added. • SELL ITI — CLASSIFIED*! • ftK0 plca‘ :‘50,0oot00t) * Mlnut* Aid For cSisa q^&Sg* a.*gw»- > ^l^***7 *•*> «*S£? >» • .« iwahhanoaT J»WI • Watlid, toytlaanen * " »w ^ * your °«y clian.no __ TO US *4* ^ Happy NewYear We wish you joy of achievement INTAIH C&MMCUUt INCORPORATED 1908 (J. & &&uxfktAXy, omoL LUMBER iuut BUILDERS' SUPPLIES BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C. §kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk»>k>k%Xkkkka s? 8 A A a A A A A 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 .8 8 8 8 8 8 8 i Business --- Professional --- Service DIRECTORY • WHERE TO EAT ANN’S CAFE Cherry St. — Black Mountain HOME COOKING We Fix Dinners To Go.
