Miss Joyce Wells, a senior at WCC, Cullowhee, is doing her three months’ practice teaching in the Leicester school. Larry Glenn is home for an in definite period after receiving his discharge from the army in Boston on March 29. Mr. and Mrs. Finley Stepp and Mrs. E. P. Sams of Weaverville spent the week end in Huntsville. Ala., with their children, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Stepp. Miss Nancy Kester of Oberlin college, Oberlin, Ohio, spent the holidays with her parents, Dr. and Mrs Howard Kester. Mr. and Mrs. William Styles and children, Eloise, Allen and Dede. left last Saturday morning for a week’s visit with Mr Styles’ brother. Captain Ralph E. Styles of Washington, D. C. Miss Lelia Zernow' and Miss Bessie Zernow will leave Satur day for a vacation in Florida. Dr. C. D. Thomas, associate superintendent and medical di rector, and Dr. William Hollister, thoracic surgeon of WNC San., will participate in the ninth an nual N. C. Trudeau Society Med ical section of the N. C. Tuber culosis association to be held in Raleigh April 9. Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Butner and family were Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Butner of Burnsville, Mr. and Mrs. Thurman Hollifield of Marion, and Mr. and Mrs Bill Bronson and family of Greensboro. Mr. and Mrs. YV. N. Brown of “VVileneuk", North Fork road, had as guests last Monday Mrs. Phiffer Berry of Drexel and Mrs. Thelma Carpenter of Morganton. Mrs. W. F. YYrells, Joyce and Billy, spent Easter in YVagener, S. C„ with Mrs. YV'ells’ mother-in-law, Mrs. A. S. Wells, who is also Joyce and Billy's grandmother. 1 hey were met there by other members of the YVells family who came to YVagener for the annual Easter family reunion. They are Mr. and Mrs. Cecil YVells and Mr. and Mrs. H. C. YV'ells and Alex of Savannah, and Mr. and Mrs. Rob ert Sloan of Columbia. S. C. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Callison, Jr. and children, Michael, Patricia and Gregory, have been transfer red to YVinston-Salem. Mr. Calli son, who is with YVestern Electric Co., joined the company in 1951. After having worked in New York City, Colorado Springs, Colo., and San Francisco, he is now located in the field engineering force headquarters at Winston-Salem. Miss Judy Capps of Appalachian State Teachers college, Boone, and Mr. and Mrs. Clingman Capps and children of Reidsville spent the holidays with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Capps. Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Griffin of YVoodland and Miss Mary Grant Griffin of Lowell spent the week end with Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Wells, Jr. The Griffins are Mrs. Wells’ parents and Miss Griffin an aunt. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Talley and sons, Terry and Tim, have moved to Tampa, Fla., to make their home. Miss Naomi Elliott and two friends of ASTC, Boone, spent the holidays with her parents, Mr and Mrs. V. Elliott. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Watson spent the week end with friends at Fort Knox, Ky. Mrs. R E. Mumpower, hostess at Sue Bennett colege, London, Ky., spent several days during the holi day's at her home here. Miss Patty Tyson, who is at tending the L-niversity of Georgia, Athens, spent the holidays with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Tyson. She rode back to school with the Percy Justus family. Mr. and Mrs. John G. Reading have returned to their home here after spending the winter in Stu art. Fla. Several weeks ago the Readings were fishing in Saint Lucie river, near Stuart, when Mrs. Reading pulled a 200 lb. sea turtle up to the boat on a 25 lb. test line. They were unable to get it in the boat, so they had to let it go. Miss Harriett Burgess will leave Saturday for a 10-day visit with her aunt, Mrs. Lydia Milton at Daytona Beach, Fla. Miss Betty Ausbom of Sylacuga, Ala., spent several days during the holidays with Mr. and Mrs. B. W. Rowland, Russell and Toni. Rus sell, a student at the University of North Carolina Medical school, Chapel Hill, returned to school Monday after spending the holi days with his family. Miss Joyce Justus of the Uni versity of Georgia and Miss Norma Justus of Emory university School of Nursing, Atlanta, spent the holidays with their parents, Mr and Mrs. Percy Justus, who drove them back to school on Sunday. Brow'n left Thurs day (today) for Minerva, Ohio, where she will visit her niece, Mrs. J- t Baxter. From there she will go to y. to visit her daughter, Jean Brown, and to New Jersey to visit relatives and friends. She expects to be away three weeks. They went especially to attend the Easter ser vices at Bob Jones university. Gary and Steve Moffitt of Ashe ville spent last Friday with their aunt, Mrs. Frank Watkins and family. Mr. and Mrs. R. C. C. last Thur sday evening to attend the Classic Players production of “King Hen ry IV” by William Shakespeare. The students went by chartered bus, arriving in time to have din ner at the college dining hall and visit the museum. A special feat ure of the campus tour was a visit to the sound movie studio where “the world's most unusual univer sity" has produced several outstan ding religious and classic movies. The seniors are members of Mr Y. L. Medlin’s senior Knglish clas ses at Owen. In addition to Mr Medlin, Miss Sara Rice of the Owen faculty and Larry Allen of Black Mountain accompanied the seniors.
