State Highway The trucking industry is cooperating wirn Patrol and WNCT-TV in the safety campaign._ Hall, Hogan Win Safely Contests Beacon Manufacturing company held a banquet in the lunchroom at Owen High school, Tuesday, March 27. One hundred and fif teen represented the safety com mittee, with W. Mitchell as safety director. The program was in the form of a quiz, participated in by 15 members. Questions were con cerning safety in the home, plant, and the highways. Heed Wilson, announcer from Radio Station WWNC, served as moderator. Ike Hall and Morris Hogan won the quiz, each receiving a $25 war bond. Each department having the lowest accident rate for the year was awarded a banner in recogn ition of their efforts and ability to prevent accidents. Those re ceiving the awards: first place, knapping room. Mike Groce in charge; second winner, ware house and shipping, Jim Watkins: third place, winding department. Howard Burrell in charge. Present at the banquet were two guests: H. L. Baucom, safety di rector for North Carolina Indust rial commission, recently elected president of S. Safety Conference 1956-57, and Royal Young, safety director for Employees Insurance Corp. GRAVESIDE RITES FOR LLOYD KEITH GRAGG Graveside rites for Lloyd Kieth Gragg, four-month-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Gragg of Jones Cove road, Swannanoa, were held Friday afternoon April 6 in the j Keith Cemetary with the Rev. A. D. Smith officiating. Surviving, in addition to the parents, are the paternal grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. Troy Gragg, and the Maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. H. T. Crisp, all of Swannanoa.
