Peekin’ Through The KEYHOLE . . . With LIB By Elizabeth Dinwiddie Mr. and Mrs. Richard Stone and sons, Burt and Bobby, and Mrs. Stone's parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Magnant of Rye, N. Y., return ed last Tuesday from a vacation at Indian Rock Beach, Fla. The Magnants left for their home in New York on Friday. Mr. and Mrs. John E. Boring and children, Judy and Dennis, returned last Sunday night from a nine-day trip to New York City. Eln route home they stopped In Washington to visit places of in terest. Miss Peggy Williams of Mere dith college, Raleigh, spent the week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Williams. She brought with her for a week-end visit Miss Mary Ann Braswell of Rocky Mount, also a student at Meredith, and Johnny Garrett of State College and Jimmy Law rence of Newport News, Va. John ny is from Burlington and Jimmy was graduated from State college last year. Miss Emilye Hawkins of Berea college spent the spring holidays with her mother, Mrs. Charles Hawkins. She had as her guest over the week-end, Jerry Brackett also of Berea college and Miss Irene Barnes of the Baptist hos pital, Winston-Salem, a former 1 student at Berea School of Nurs- ’ ing. Emilye made the trip with Dr. and Mrs. Ira Martin who have a summer home at High Top Col ony. Jack Farr and A. C. Own bey were dinner guests of the Hawkins during the time the oth ers were here. Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Bowness, who moved here recently from Glen dora, Calif., are residing on the High School road. They plan to build a home here sometime in the near future. Mr. Bowness was a licensed general contractor in Mi ami, Fla., for 10 years and in Los Angles, Calif., four years. Mr. and Mrs. Bowness have two chil dren, a daughter, Jane, student at Owen High and a son, Alex, who is enrolled in the elementary school. Mr. and Mrs. B. C. Chandler Jr., r will celebrate their wedding anni- t versary on Wednesday, May 2. v William E. Watson has re-en- 1 listed in the army and is stationed c at Fort Jackson, S. C. Mr. Wat- S son has served 12 years in the army. Mrs. Herbert Daugherty, Mrs. Henry T. Ware, and Mrs. Gordon Greenwood attended the 16th an nual district meeting of the Wo man’s Society of Christian Ser vice in the Central Methodist church, Asheville, last Thursday. Mrs. R. C. Henderson has re turned to her home here after spending the winter at Daytona Beach, Fla. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Wright and son, Bassil of Raeford and daugh ter, Mrs. Commodore Wall, and children Neal, Dianne and Libby Rose of Raleigh, spent the week end with Mrs. H. E. Stinchcomb at her home “Gray Gables.” Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Meyer and daughters. Charleen. Melanie, and Dianne of Miami Beach, Fla., have arrived to spend the summer at their home in McCoy Cove. SKC R. E. and Mrs. Anderson and Robert of Philadelphia are visiting their parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Anderson and Mr. and Mrs. George McElrath. Over the week-end they went to Charleston, S. C., to visit Mr. Anderson’s un cle, Henry Burnett. Miss Edna Zickler and Larry llenn had as their guest during he past week, Leonard R. Craig II of Boston, Mass., and Atlanta, dr. Craig is a lay brother in the \nglican order of the Holy Cross ind is an artist of note, having had work exhibited both in Eng land and America. Mr. Craig is a former Harvard classmate of Lar ry and is at present attached to the Third Army headquarters in Atlanta. Mr. and Mrs. Marcus Begley, Mrs. Inez Hall, and Miss Juanita Creasman attended the Robert Fi ance Hair forum in Knoxville, Tenn., last week. Miss Yvonne Nanney has re turned to Berea college, Berea, Ky., after spending the spring holidays with her parents, Mr. ind Mrs. Clark Nanney. The Rev. W. R. Moore by Halman Christian University by Deed re corded in Book 149 Page 318, thence along said west line last mentioned, North 0 deg. 38’ West 65 feet to a stake and rock with pine pointers; thence North 76 deg. East 162 feet to an iron stake on the bank of a branch; thence North 76 deg. East 560 feet more or less to a stake in the West line or boundary of the said 30 acre tract above mention ed; thence South 1 deg. 30’ West along the said West line or boundary of said 30 acre tract (once the Methodist Colony Com pany line) 308.5 feet more less to the point of BEGINNING. Expressly excepted from the foregoing description are two tracts of land conveyed to J. B. Brooks by Deed recorded in Book 652, on Page 359 and 640 on Page 148. It being the intention of the Grantors and the Grantees herein that this Deed conveys only Lot 522, Block 11 as shown on Sheet 9 of the Tax Assessors Records of Black Mountain Township and no more, and being a portion of the same land and premises described in Deed recorded in the office of byterian church, participated in the day’s program also. Miss Eva Smith of Berea col lege spent the spring holidays with her mother, Mrs. H. D. Smith and sister, Miss Carolyn Smith. They had as their guest over the week-end, Edwin Roach also of Berea. Miss Judy Byrd’s grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Hallman, en tertained Judy and a few of her friends recently with a dinner party. Her mother, Mrs. Eugene Byrd, assisted in entertaining the group. Miss Joyce McCall, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin McCall, has returned from Raleigh where she successfully completed the state board examination for cosmetolog ists. She has now accepted a full time position with Robinsons Beauty Shop at 474% Haywood road, West Asheville. Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Cane have moved here from New York and are residing in the Wright house on Azalea and 8th st. The Rev. and Mrs. Joseph Dung linson have returned after spend ing three weeks in Aliceville and Selma, Ala. Misses Bessie and Lelia Zernow are home after a two weeks’ va cation in Florida.
