Last week she read an item of special interest, one that reached back into the past. “The Blackwelder swimming hole.'1 As a girl she crossed Curtis Creek many times and visited in the home of the Blackwelder family some 60 years ago. The katydids are letting them selves be heard now on these mid summer nights. According to tradi tion it’s only six more weeks till frost. W. B. Robinson, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Robinson, Wayne and Dennis of Miami. Fla., are visitng mem bers of their families here. Mrs. Anna Gregg is confined to her bed with a cold and sore throat. Mr. and Mrs. G. R. Creasman gave an outdoor supper Saturday night at their home in Jones Cove. Present were: Mr. and Mrs. Jim Fuller and children, Mrs. Omie Greene, Mr. and Mrs. Millard Bartlett and children, Wilbur Creasman and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Gregg. Robinson at ended the decoration services at Jurnsville on Sunday. DICKIE OSTEEN FETED WITH BIRTHDAY PARTY In celebration of Vickie Osteen’s sixth birthday anniversary her mother, Mrs. Alvis Osteen, gave a party at their home Saturday afternoon, July 21, in her honor. Games and contests were enjoyed during the afternoon. Paper hats, balloons, and bubble gum were given as favors. Birthday cake, ice cream, and lemonade were served to Sandra Buckner, Carol Watkins, Gay Os teen, Barbara Blizzard, Vickie and Keith and Jed Osteen. Mrs. James E. KERLEE CHURCH MEN ENTERTAIN LADIES WITH CHICKEN FRY The Men’s Bible class of the Kerlee Baptist church entertained the ladies’ class with a chicken fry at the Old Fort picnic grounds, Friday evening, July 27. The men fried 15 chickens while the ladies sat around and enjoyed them selves. The menu consisted of fried chicken, green beans, corn on the coh, potato salad, cole slaw, pick les, pie, cake, coffee and soft drinks.
