MILLER FINDS— From Page 1 I looked at the tracks the drizzle had not deformed in any way. These were the largest tracks of a bear 1 had ever seen. These tracks were only a short distance from the cabin. Finally th< dogs treed the bear. When I reached the scene the bear w»as up in a large oak tree, casually walking out on one of the limbs of the tree. I was afraid he was going to jump out of the tree. Cold chills crept up and down my spine, beads of perspira tion broke out on my forehead, and my hands trembled. I was thinking if my shots didn’t hit a vital spot the dogs were sure to get killed—dogs lose all sense of danger when a bear has been shot. HUNTSINGER The Junior Home and Civic club held its regular meeting on Oet. 10 at 7:30 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Ulan Aldridge in Montreat. Mrs. Dan Espey was co-hostess. Mrs. Dempsey Whitaker, club president, presided. She announced that the second district of the State Federation of Women’s clubs would meet Wednesday at Black Mountain, with sessions planned for the Methodist church and Monte Vista hotel. The Jun ior Home and Civic club will be in charge of registering the guests. The club officers will be enter tained with state and district of ficers and officers of the Senior and Junior Woman’s clubs of Black Mountain. The clothing closet committee reported 347 garments turned in to the clothing closet. Children’s clothes are Especially needed. The drive for the United Fund was mapped and a committee ap pointed to cover the designated area. Mrs. A. J.
