Peekin' Through The KEYHOLE . . . Willi LIB By Elizabeth Pinwiddie F. S. White brought Mr. and Mrs. J. J. White home from Kan sas City and Beulah, Mo., where they have been visiting for several weeks. They arrived here Satur day. F. S. White remained for a visit with his sister, Mrs. J. H. Kiddle and family. Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Dotson of Canton. Ohio, spent several days last week with members of their families here. They were en route home from Jacksonville, Fla., where they visited Mrs. Dotson’s son, Kenneth Hamby, and family. They went by Washington, D. C.. to get their daughter. Mrs. Inez Helmich, and daughter to take them to Can ton for a visit. Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Treat have returned to Orlando, Fla., after spending the summer and fall here. The Treats spend six months of the year in Florida and six in Black Mountain. Miss Bea Bailey, Miss Alva Bartlett and Mr. and Mrs. Hayden Webb spent Sunday, Oct. 14 ir Hayesville visiting relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Russell, Jr., and Lanny are making their home in Dearborn, Mich., for the winter. Mrs. Charles Mertle accompan ied Mrs. Stanley Jones to her home in Cleveland, Ohio, last Thursday, following Mrs. Jones' visit here for several weeks. Miss Hazel Barton and Miss Clara Shuenke returned to St. Pet ersburg, Fla., Wednesday after spending the summer and fall at Briarbrook. Mr. and Mrs. G. F.. Hemphill of Burlington, Wash., and their daughter, Mrs. Mildred Packard, of San Francisco, Calif., are vis iting Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Hemphill and Lynn and other relatives in this vicinity. G. E. Hemphill is an uncle of A. J. and is a former resident of Black Mountain. John Brown has returned from the American Breeders Association convention in Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Atkins and Mr. and Mrs. Horace Simmons vis ited Mr. Atkins and Mrs. Simmons father, Dave Atkins, in Barnards ville last Sunday. Mrs. Harry M. Davis returned last week from a visit with the Preston Galloways in Florence, S C., and her sister-in-law. Mis Anna Davis in Mullins. She also made a trip to Myrtle Beach while she was away. William Hickey spent the week end at Daytona Beach, Fla. Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Longcoy, Jr., and Barbara Ann of Charlotte spent the week-end with members of their families here. Mrs. R. H. Kaplan and Mrs. John L. Connet, district directors of the pisgah Girl scout council, were among those attending the Girl scout Regional Conference in Savannah, Ga., last Thursday and Friday. Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Eckles spent last week in Raleigh visiting Mrs. Eckles’ brother-in-law and sister, Dr. and Mrs. S. R. Horton. They also spent several days at More head City while they were away. Mrs. Pearl Perkins spent several days last week in Smithfield N. C. Mrs. Mary E. Aleshire is spend ing this week at Nantahala Inn, west of Cherokee. Mr. and Mrs. Henry T. Ware left Monday, Oct. 22, for New York City,from where they sailed on Wednesday for Italy to visit their son, who is stationed there with the U. S. Army. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Russell, Sr. who are making their home in Dearborn, Mich., for the winter spent several days here last week. Mrs. Ida Morrow is visiting her granddaughter, Mrs. James Hel green, and Mr. Helgreen and her twin great- granddaughters, Bar bara Dale and Susan Gale in Char lotte. A 2C Clarence David Tolley is spending a 15-day leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Tol ley. He will leave Nov. 1 for Calif ornia from where he is scheduled to sail for a tour of duty in Korea. Mrs. W. H. Lindsey and her sister, Mrs. K. L. Dillard, from Sylva spent the week end in Marion visiting relatives. Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Godfrey, who are moving back to Black Mount ain after living in Candler for sev eral years, are visiting Mrs. Lind sey and Lou while getting ready to move into their home on Laurel Ave. Mrs. .!. W. Bergthold is visiting her mother, Mrs. Eger, in Dela ware, Ohio, for an indefinite period. Mr. and Mrs. Wade Morrow were honored on their thirty-second wedding anniversary with a dinner party given at the home of Mrs. Morrow’s sister. Mrs. G. B. Field. Belcher, 28 Hilltop road, Biltmore Forest. Mrs. Gustova Brown spent the week-end in Atlanta with Mr. and Mrs. Leon Burnette and daugh ters. Mr. and Mrs. R. D. Robinson have returned to their home in Orlando, Fla., after spending- the summer and fall at the Longcoys' apartment, Montreal road. They are planning to build a home in Spring 11:11 and will return to Black Mountain in the early spring. Mrs. George L. Pritchard will leave Sunday for New York from where she will sail Monday on the Yulcania, an Italian liner, on the Buke University School of Medi cine Seminar Cruise to the Medi terranean. Mrs. John \Y. Daugherty had as week-end guests Mr. and Mrs. Fred S. Donally of Lancaster, I’a., Mrs. Robert Jones of Louisville, Ky., and Mrs. Farl Goodall of Le banon, Tenn. Mrs. Donally is Mrs. Daugherty’s daughter and Mrs. Jones and Mrs. Goodall are sis ters. Mrs. G. E. Mattison and Mrs. H. McGuire Wood have returned af ter a few days of sketching and painting at Pawleys Island. Miss Lillian Russell has return ed from a two weeks’ vacation with the Rev. and Mrs. W. H. Moore, former residents of Black Moun tain who are now residing in High Point. The Moores, Miss Blanche Moss, and J. M. Salisbury, also of High Point, drove Miss Russell home and spent the week-end at the Monte Vista hotel. H. McGuire Wood has returned from a visit with his mother, Mrs. H. R. Wood of Rochester, N. Y. Misses Mary, Lela, and Bertha Walters and Miss Mary Mackay have returned from a motor trip to Charlottsville, Va.
