Mrs. Reisig has been residing in franco for fifteen months while her husband, who is with the air force, is taking further training on the sabre jets in Moracco. Mrs. Reisig is making a few months’ visit home. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Connelly, motored to New York where they met Mrs. Reisig, the former Jane Connelly, for the return trip home. The Rev. and Mrs. Russell Bur son and son John of Jonesville, N. C., visited the Rev. and Mrs. Wil liam Ratchford, while en route to Nashville, Tenn. I went down to the club house and enjoyed the Thanksgiving banquet with the Black Mountair Garden club Friday night. Minnie couldn’t go for she was entertain ing herself. I went partly to le' the folks know that I hadn’t “kick ed the bucket” yet. Everyone wa: surprised when 1 told them that had been back at work for twe weeks. 1 just can’t write enougl to keep this column up to date. The club had the delicious turkey din ner with all the fixings that we generally do, but I still feel verj puny, and couldn’t do the raea ample justice. Minnie had the W.M.U. circle here Friday night. I couldn’t saj what kind of a program they had for I had to work the 3rd shift lat er that night and went to bed t< rest but they seemed to have ; very good time. Each of the ladies brought Minnie a lovely household gift. Mae Burnette spent the night with us. A good time to visit us is be tween 4:00 and 6:00 o’clock p.m on w’eek days. Saturday after noons we might be out running around, but Saturday nights we day nights. A certain Black Mountain citi zen of unusual culinary ability was baking a turkey recently. On ac count of the size of the bird his roaster lid would not fit snugly in its groove. He rose to the oc casion by laying a cinder block on the lid, and thereby holding it firmly in place.
