As we were being shown through a beautiful church in Assisi, the birthplace of St. Francis, the pa tron saint of Italy, a little boy be gan pulling away from his mother and toward me shouting, “Nonno, nonno, nonno.” I was pleased to have the child respond to me so spontaneously, until the guide laughed and said, "He thinks you are his grandfather.” These Ital ians marry young, you know. The most thrilling experience in Europe is that of visiting with Malcolm Stewart, who is at Vero na with SETAE. He now has the rating of Sergeant and likes the Army and the Italian people. When they tell me he is better looking than his dad, my stock reply is "He should be since he is a later model.” As we look forward to getting back home and to Christmas din ner with Dr. and Mrs. Weather ford, we are like the cartoonist who said, “In this age of pre frozen, pre-cooked, instant food, it seems good to sit down to a meal that’s pre-meditated.” MERRY CHRISTMAS! —H.
