Mis3 Eleanor Seagle, a Montreat college graduate who is now teach ing in Winston-Salem, spent the week-end with her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Kav Stutts. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Coburn are on a tour of the southern states in the interest of Camp Merri-Mac. They visited Mrs. Co bum’s son and family in Louis iana and welcomed her new grand daughter and namesake, Alice Mc Hride. They will be in Texas this week. Dr. and Mrs. Cerleton White and sons, Timothy and Charles, will spend a few weeks with Mrs. M hite’s sister and family, Dr. and Mrs. Charles Miller, in Grand Rap ids, Mich. MR. AND MRS. GODFREY GIVEN HOUSEWARMING Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Godfrey were pleasantly surprised Friday evening when a group of friends laden with gifts arrived for a housewarming for the Godfrey’s new home on Laurel Avenue. Hos tesses for the occasion were Mrs. George Wrenn, Mrs. R. W. Sea wright, and Mrs. J. II. Riddle. Those present were: Mrs. W. A. Allison, Mrs. Lee Seagle, Mrs. D. O. McDougle, Mrs. Stanley Gar land, Mrs. John Dougherty, Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Sanders, Mrs. Gordon H. Greenwood, Buddy and Ricky Greenwood, and the honoree. Others who were unable to attend but who sent gifts were Mr. and Mrs. Harry Garland, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Carson, Mrs. Iva McCoy, Mrs. Dinsmore Crawford, Mrs. J. L. Potter, and Miss Lou Lindsey. BROAD RIVER By Mrs. M. M. Elliott Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Lytle and children of Winston-Salem spent the week-end with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Ledbetter, on Broad River, and Mr. and Mrs. V. C. Lytle on Raid Mountain. The Rev. and Mrs. Paul Dotson and daughter Ann were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Belch er last Sunday. Janies Davis, who has been vis iting his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Davia, and family since Christmas in Merritt, Fla., returned to his home on Upper Cedar Creek last week. Andy Elliott left for California last Sunday to visit his son, Rus sell Elliott, who is ill. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Summey and children spent Sunday night with Mrs. Summey’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Ownbey. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Huskings have moved to the home of Mr. Hus kings’ mother, Mrs. Pearl Ledbet ter Huskins on Broad River. I visited my sister, Mrs. Nan Ownbey in Asheville last Tues day. We were glad to have with us at Stone Mountain church last Sunday Ray Davis and Floyd Vess and little son of Crooked Creek. Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Murphy’s little daughter Barbara is very ill. Hoover Hall who has been so ill in Marion hospital, is some what improved. We were indeed sorry to hear of the death of Mrs. Palmer Lytle at Dana, S. C. Mr. and Mrs. Lytle and children lived in this section and attended Stone Mountain church for several years. Our healt-felt sympathy goes out to her bereaved husband and chil dren. Also our heartfelt sympathy goes out to R. CL Ownbey and children in their bereavement. Mr. and Mrs. Ownbey have been our dear friends and neighbors for more than 35 years. They have never failed to help us in sickness and many other ways. Yewett Elliott visited Mr. and Mrs. Fletcher Elliott Sunday af ternoon. Mr. Elliott has been in poor health for several years. Lawrence and Joe Elliott left for Chicago, 111., last week. The Rev. Wade Hunter, former pastor of Broad River church, preached his last sermon last Sun day night. Davis Clark and children, Mrs. Boyd Elliott, Yewitt Elliott and I attended the singing at Davis Town church last Saturday night. CARD OF THANKS The family of Mrs. Robert G.
