Mr. and Mrs. Doss Kerlee spent the week-end in Charlottesville, Va.. with Dr. and Mrs. Robert Headley and their son Robin. Mr. and Mrs. David Nache and chil dren, David Jr.. Cynthia Ann, and Harold Allen came down from Washington for a reunion with the family. Doss celebrated his birth day anniversary while there. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Collins and Joe of Winston-Salem spent last week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Hor ace Simmons. The Rev. and Mrs. Carroll R. Stegall have been awarded the “Chevalier de l’ordre du Leopold IP' by the King of Belgium. The Rev. Mr. Stegall is pastor of the Friendship Presbyterian church. He and Mrs. Stegall were mission aries in the Belgian Congo for 36 years in the field of education and evangelism. While in the Congo the Rev. Mr. Stegall introduced short wave radio communications to the Congo, which system has now become widespread. The King of Belgium has recognized these services to the upbuilding of the colony by giving them this high honor. Mr. and Mrs. George E. Moray. Blue Ridge road, returned last Wednesday from a three weeks’ vacation in Florida where they visited friends in Mr. Dora, Tam pa, St. Petersburg. Avon Park, Lakeland, and Pompano Beach. Among the out-of-town people here to attend the funeral services for Miss Anne V. Wilson were a niece. Mrs. H. Clay Lewis of De catur. Ga.: nephews. Okano of the VA hos pital, Swannanoa. has been chosen I by the town of McKenny, Va., to compete in the beauty contest to be held April 28. This contest is sponsored by the town of Mc Kenny and Joy will compete with 30 other girls. She was formerly in Mr. Mills' eighth grade class, Black Mountain Elementary school. She sends her best wishes to all of her friends here.
