Peekin’ Through The KEYHOLE . . . With LIB I By Elizabeth Dinwiddie Mrs. Eva Nichols of Coats, N. C-, spent last week with Mrs. Bet ty Wrenn. A.T.I Mack Milton, Mrs. Milton, Donna Kay, and Denise have ar rived from China Lake, Calif., to visit his mother, Mrs. Howard Milton, and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Raines, and sister, Miss Betty Raines. After a visit here Mack will go to the navy school in Memphis. Mrs. Milton and children will remain here for an indefinite period. The Miltons were on Guam for two years prior to returning to the States. Mr. and Mrs. Piper M. Osborne and children, Diane and Ken, left Monday to make their home in Columbus, Ga. Mr. Osborne will be associated with Eagle-Phenix plant as assistant supervisor of the dyeing and finishing depart ment. He was formerly with Clear water Finishing plant, Old Fort. Among those who will celebrate their wedding anniversaries next week are Mr. and Mrs. V*. \\. White, May 16, and Mr. and Mrs. W, E. Lindau, May 15. Miss Addie White of Concord, N. Mrs. Nicholas Stillwell has returned to Atlanta after spending a few days with her mother, Mrs. Porter. Mr=. Ruth Groner and Miss Pearl King have returned to their home on Rhododendron avenue after spending the winter in St. Peters burg, Fla. Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Milovitz spent Sunday in Bakersville with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Garland. The Garland family cel ebrated the birthday anniversary of the Jesse Garland’s son, Roy, with a dinner. Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Sharp have arrived from Mexico to spend the summer at their home here. Arthur Westbrook of Atlanta visited his mother, Mrs. Ruth Westbrook, and his brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. Dick West brook and infant daughter of Ashe ville, over the week-end. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Stafford last Saturday were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kellough and daughters, Judy and Sherry', and Mrs. Stafford’s mother, Mrs. T. A. Edwards, all of Pleasant Gardens. Sunday guests included Mr. and Mrs. C. V. Bolick of Charlotte and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Long of Swannanoa. Mr. and Mrs. Zeb Sawyer re turned last Tuesday from a visit with Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Tamm of Coral Gables, Fla. They went es pecially to be with the Tamms on their fifty-second wedding anni versary. Other guests for a cele bration dinner included Mr. and Mrs. Jack Richa of Pompano Beach, Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Haynes and Mrs. Haynes’ mother of Mi ami. Mrs. fc,. n. Krigaen or .viaaison, X. J., accompanied her sister, Mrs. Ruth Westbrook, home following Mrs. Westbrook’s visit in Madison for ten days. This is Mrs. Brig den’s first, visit to Western North Carolina. She expects to be here for six weeks. They traveled over the parkway on their return trip here. Mrs. D. J. LaGrone and son Jer rald of Edgefield, S. C.. are spend ing some time with Mrs. \\. E. Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Greene have returned home after spending the winter at F.au Gallic, Ha. Miss Hazel Barton and Miss Clara Schuenke of St. Petersburg. Fla., are spending a few days at “Briarbrook.” Mrs. R. D. Rogers has returned from a visit with her daughter. Mrs. Lionel Nelson, and family in Hopewell, Va. In last week’s issue we carrier a story about Emilye Hawkins' winning $75 for her story in a south-wide contest for college stu dents sponsored by the Baptist Sunday School Board. Emilye at tended prayer meeting last sum mer at the Vance Avenue Baptist church, and during the speaker’s talk he remarked “Even My Chick ens Know I Am a Christian.” This gave Emilye the idea of writing “Christian Chickens.” Commander R. M. Israel has re tired after almost 28 years with the navy. He entered the service Sept. 1929, and has seen service all over the world. His mother, Mrs. Z. \V. Israel, resides in Cand ler. Mrs. Israel is the former Miss Lei a Nanney of Black Mountain. They are residing in their new home “Lonesome Acres,” near Old Fort. Mrs. Frances Pearson and San dra Lee. who have been residing at Melbourne Beach, Fla., will spend the summer with her moth er, Mrs. Valentine Avena. Miss Minnie Groves has return ed after spending the winter in Umatilla, Fla. Miss Verdie E. GUESTS AT OAK KNOLL CONDUCT WORKSHOP Mbs Dorothy Potter of South Hampton, Mass., paid her annual visit over the week-end as a guest of Miss Ruth C. Aleshire. These girls served together during World War II in foreign service of the ’ American Red Cross in Newfound i land, England, and the Orient. Miss Potter is now a columnist and magazine writer, and Miss Aleshire is state consultant of N. ’ C. Child Welfare service. Other week-end guests were Miss Ellen Bush and Mrs. Fannie May Pem j berton of the State Welfare de partment of Raleigh. Mrs. T. S.
