He will speak on reading for young people. All fathers of young people are urged to attend. The Baccalaureate service which was held in Gaither chapel on ■Sunday was well attended. The procession of the college student body, faculty and speakers was a line sight. The sermon which was addressed to the graduates, “Pos sessions and Privileges”, by Dr. J. ( ceil Lawrence of Charlotte, was well worth hearing. The anthem “We Praise Thee”, sung by the college chorus, was beautifully done. This good music will be greatly missed for the next few Sundays before the conferences start. The Montreat church congrega tion will continue for the first three Sundays in June with the pastor, the Rev. Stanley Bennett, in charge. The Wednesday prayer meetings will continue in the sun parlor at 4 p.m. for first three weeks of June. The Student Christian associa tion held its vesper service on Sun day in Gaither chapel. The presi dent, Martha Rose Miller, presided with Martha Poarch at the organ. Mr. and Mrs. Martin Foil of Con cord, who purchased the Fisher cottage on Greybeard trail, spent a few days last week in their cot tage. Bishop and Mrs. J. E. Kearney, who have spent the winter in Sum merville, S. C., were in their cot tage on Virginia road last week. Mrs. Albert Summey and Miss . Ellen Brice of Charlotte, spent a few days last week with Miss Alice Hardie on Virginia road. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Orr of ■ Charlotte, spent a few days last week in the Johnston home. Dr. and Mrs. Harry Bryan of Charlotte, spent a few days this ' past week in their cottage. The Rev. and Mrs. D. P. Me i Geachy, Jr. of Clearwater, Fla. were in their cottage on West Vir ' ginia terrace last week on a short _ stay. They were returning from Richmond. They were glac to report that Dr. McClure hai fully recovered from his recen automobile accident. Mrs. Leroy Campbell and mothei of Hickory, spent few days las week in the Campbell cottage.
