John A. Weidinger. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Magnant of Grove mont and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Max J. Hunt of Old Fort. The ceremony was performed be fore an altar banked with green ery, gladioli and snapdragons, flanked by bunny tapers. Wedding music was presented by Mrs. Otto Herman. The bride, an attractive brunette, was given in marriage by her fath er. Her gown was of satin and lace with a fitted bodice and full skirt overlaid with scalloped lace appliques. Her veil fell from a bridal coronet of pearls, and her only ornament was a strand of pearls, gift of the bridegroom. She carried a white prayer book topped by an orchrid. Miss Carolyn Magnant was her sister’s maid of honor. She wore a sheath dress of green velvet with matching taffeta over skirt and bandeau. Her bouquet was of fall flowers. Sharon Magnant, also a sister of the bride, was junior bridesmaid her gown was of bronze velvet with matching overskirt and -lie carried yellow chrysanthemums. The bridegroom’s father was his best man. The mother of the bride wore a frock of light blue lace with white accessories. Her corsage was of pink roses. Ihe groom s mother was gowned in dusty rose lace over taffeta and with matching accessories. Her flowers were dark pink roses. Following the ceremony the bride’s parents entertained with a reception at their home, where a wedding cake was cut and served with punch. The new Mrs. Hunt is a grad uate of Swannanoa High school and Cecil’s Business college. She has recently been employed by the Kxcello Corp. The groom is a graduate of Old Fort High school, and Blanton’s Business college. He has just completed six months in the Air Force and is in the Reserve. He is presently employed in the production office at Old Fort Fin ishing Plant. The young couple will be at home in their apartment in West Fort at Old Fort. Fruit Cakes Ordered? The American Business club is again offering for sale those fam ous and mouth watering fruit cakes made in Georgia by Benson. The members conduct the sale of the cakes every year with the proceeds going to the school lunch fund for the underprivileged. Wed 64 Years Mr. and Mrs. Jim Harmon were honored by an open house on Sat urdav at their home in New Fort. The occasion marked their 64th wedding anniversary. Friends called during the after noon to offer their congratulations and to leave gifts. Mrs. Roger Hartwell made a beautiful wedding cake for the Harmons. It centered the table and wa- greatly admired. The Harmons are long time res idents in Old Fort and have taken an active part in the life of the community. Mr. Harmon was a long-time mayor of the town. The couple were the parents of two children, Paul, now deceased, and a daughter, Mrs. Hicks Grant. They have numerous grandchil dren and great-grandchildren. Bronson Monteith Graduates Bronson Monteith graduated Sun dae from Indiana Tech in Fort Wayne, hid., where he received a degree in Civil Engineering. He is the husband of Mrs. Violet Mor ris Monteith who has also been in Fort Wayne while he attended school. Mr. and Mrs. Rhonard McRae and Mrs. Carl Morris left on Fri day for Ft. Wayne to attend the graduation evercises and to ac company the family home. •hr. Woman Club Projects Members of the Jr. Woman’s club are, busy making clothes for .their annual “Christmas Doll” soon to go on display with her wardrobe in a Main street store window. She will be used to raise money for a worthwhile club pro ject. Also, club members are asking for donations of discarded cloth ing to be renovated for the needy. Fred Travis, former associate pastor of the bride and groom, performed the double ring ceremony. The bride was given in marriage by her father. Her floor length gown of chantilly lace and tulle over satin featured a fitted bodice with a V-neck line and long sleeves Coming to a point over the hand. Her finger tip veil was attached to a cap of pearls and sequins. Her only ornament was a pearl neck lace, a gift of the bridegroom. She carried a prayer book topped by white rosebuds with streamers. Miss Mimi Padgett of Old Fort, sister of the bride was maid of honor. Her waltz length gown was of lavender brocade taffeta with net overskirt. Her headdress was of matching material and she carried a fan shaped bouquet of lavender gladioli. Bridemaids were Mrs. R. A. Padgett, Jr., of Kingston, Tenn., and Miss Nina Grindstaff of Old Fort. They wore waltz length gowns of pink taffeta with net overskirts and head dresses of matching material. They carried fan shaped bouquets of pink glad ioli. Linda Padgett, niece of the bride was flower girl. The bridegroom chose his father as his best man. Ushers for the occasion were R. A. Deaths Sherrie Stevens, iour yeai uiu daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don Stevens of Lawton, Okla., died Sunday night at 12:30 after a long illness! She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Harper of Swannanoa and the great-grand daughter of Mrs. A. L. Wilson of Black Mountain. Her body will arrive at Harrison Funeral home Wednesday. The funeral arrange ments are incomplete. Fire A lams The Old Fort Volunteer Fire de partment members have been rout ed out of bed twice recently to put out fires in vehicles. A truck hauling wood caught fire west of Old Fort on the mountain and a fire in a car east of town was also extinguished. It's mighty comforting to know that should our property catch fire willing hands would rush to our assistance. Our boys deserve a lot of credit and appreciation.
