She has returned now to Union and from there will go on a speaking tour in the Carolinas, before returning to mission duties. Mr. and Mrs. Rychen Kennedy and daughter and Mrs. Kennedy’s mother, Mrs. Georgia Brown of Greer, S. C., visited relatives and friends here last Sunday. Sp/5 Charles M. Pittman of Fort Story, Va., spent the week-end with his sister, Mrs. Wayne Os teen, and his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Crisp. Mrs. A. C. Ownbey has gone to Columbus, Ga., to join her husband who is stationed with the Army there. J. A. Dougherty spent the past week at Daytona Beach, Fla., where he attended the automobile races. Mrs. Dougherty drove him to Greenville, S. C., to board a plane to Florida. Dallas E. Nanney, AA and A 2c Daniel L. Nanney, Jr., spent the week-end with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. L. Nanney, and sis ter, Donna. Dallas is attending the Naval School of Aviation in Memphis, Tenn. Dan has just re turned from the Kujulin Islands in the Pacific . He is now stationed at Palm Beach Air Force base, Fla., and expects to be transferred to Turner Air Force base, Albany. Ga. He will then be scheduled for another short overseas tour of duty. Mrs. C. W. Riddle has returned to her home on the Portman Villa road after spending several months with her children here in Black Mountain. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Miller and daughters, Barbara and Mrs. Willis Lancaster and daughter, Sandra, of Colfax, 111., spent the week-end with Mrs. Miller’s father, George W. Reginald Heiser spent last week in Chicago attending to business. Mrs. S. S. Cooley visited her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Rush Whiteside, and a 93 year-old aunt in Philadelphia last week. The Joseph Le Vines of Miami Beach, are at their home on McCoy Cove road planting their garden. William Clark Nanney is at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clark Nanney after receiving his discharge from the Air Force at the Air Force base, Greenville, Miss. Mrs. Walter Higdon of Copper Hill, Term., visited Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Allison last week. Mrs. Higdon and Mrs. Allison are cous ins. Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Wilson will celebrate their wedding anniver sary on Wednesday, March 4. Mrs. J. F. Osteen, Sr., spent the week-end in Hendersonville with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lusk. 4-H Clubs of N. C. Join In National Week Feb. 28-Mar. 1 North Carolina 4-H’ers are join ing other 4-H’ers throughout the world in observing “National 4-H Club Week”, Feb. 28 to March 7. Each year a week is set aside for these young people between the ages of 10 and 21 to evaluate past achievements and cite future pro jects. During the past year, these Tar Heel 4-H’ers have completed 111, 055 projects in farming, home making and community service. Evidences of their work will be seen in exhibits, newspapers and on the radio. Rallies, banquets and other programs will explain their educational program to the public. "Saulte to 4-H Alumni" is the slogan that will be emphasized this year throughout the 49 states, Hawaii and Puerto Rico. Buncombe County 4-H'er, Will iam Jones, will be one of six "en voys" to make this year’s "4-H Report to the Nation" to President Eisenhower. While in Washing ton. I). C„ the group will visit the White House and meet many gov ernment officials.
