This program comes on the air from Xew York at 3 p.m. on Channel 3. Mrs. Ald ridge is the former Miss Janell Lewis and is well known here. N'ancy Lackey visited her grand mother, Mrs. Z. L. Lackey, and other relatives in Old Fort last week-end. Among newcomers to Black Mountain are Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Callahan. They moved here from Fair Lawn. N. J., and are residing in Mrs. A vena’s home on Old Ashe ville Highway 70. Mr. Callahan is with Kearfott company. Mr. and Mrs. D. G. Guess are home after a month’s stay in Win ter Haven, Sarasota, St. Peters burg and Key West, Fla. Feb. 21. The Rev. Bruce Nay, pastor of Bee Tree Christian church, visited shut-ins in Bee Tree Monday, Feb. 16. We are proud to have the Carl Thomases move back to Long Branch. They have been living at Fairview for the past year. Their son. Ray, who has been in the armed forces for the past four years, has been discharged and is home with his parents. Raymond Shope of Bee Tree road has been very sick at home this past week. Letha Howie, little daughter of the James Howies, has been sick this past week. Aunt Carrie Shope and Mrs. W. C. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Ellis Bridg es have returned from their hon eymoon in Florida and are living in their new home in Alexander. Mrs. Bridges is the former Miss Margaret Ann Sawyers, daughter of J. B. Sawyers of Bee Tree. Her brother Jackie Bob, visited them last week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Verlen Bartlett of Summer Haven, are parents of a baby daughter born Feb. 25 at St. Joseph hospital. She has been sick for some time and confined to her bed, but is doing nicely at present. Raymond Shope has returned to his home on Ree Tree road. He has been in St. Joseph’s hospital for a week. Word ha s been received that Floyd Howie, who has serv d four years in the Navy, has returned to his home in Michigan. He is the son of Chorum Howie. He came by car from Los Angeles, Calif., said roads were very hazardous due to bad weather. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Edwards of Bee i. road are staying with Mrs. Duckett at present. Mrs. Edwards is Mrs. Duckett’s daugh ter. Visiting with Mrs. Duckett Sun day was Miss Jean Merchant, Sam Blank. Mrs. Jim Kilby, her daugh ter and son-in-law, the Ray Ellises. Herbert and Kenneth Howie, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Howie, are sick with cold and flu.
