C NEWS from the CRAGMONT COMMUNITY —By Lib Harper— Phone NO 9-3028 A few weeks ago I wrote about two young men of our community. This week I’d like to tell you about one of the most helpful Christians I have ever known. She is Mrs. Marg aret Burgin, church clerk, teacher of primary class, in structor of Sunshine band, teacher of B.T.U. Eastern Star, secretary to mission cir cle, and active in all other church affairs. Several years ago Mrs. Burgin. with the help of Mrs. Mary Fortune and Mrs. Earl ine Hamilton, organized the “Sunshine Band", a club for small children of the com munity. These children arc taught Bible stories, scripture, songs, poems, and prayers. This is a wonderful thing for our children and they often present programs for differ ent occasions at our church. The club meets for one hour each Wednesday afternoon. A collection is taken up and money is used for get-well cards, flowers, and fruit for the sick and shut-ins of our community. i rememDer several monins back my father, who was sick in the hospital, received a cute card with a dollar bill inside. This impressed him a lot and he often spoke about it to people who visited him. The thing that amazes me most about Mrs. Burgin is that after eight hours of work daily at Boys Camp at Ridge crest, she is never too tired to plan and work with the children. Each year the child ren can look forward to an Easter egg hunt, 4th of July picnic, Thanksgiving, and Christmas programs. Our children have achieved so much through your inspir ing teaching and wonderful fellowship, and we thank God for you each day. Dinner guests of the Walter Simmons Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Burgin of Old Fort. After dinner the Simmons and Burgins went sight seeing around and about the Biltmore estate. Mrs. Mary fortune enjoyed a week with three of her grandchildren of Chicago. 111. The Thomas Chapel Sun day school had a picnic and spent a most enjoyable day at Dorothy Wall A.M.E. Zion camp last Sunday. The lesson was presented to the class out side in the "midst of the bal my and flowing oak trees.” Afterwards the children en joyed games, slides, swings, ball. TV, and other amuse ments. The adults were busy decorating the tables with many appetizing and tasty dishes, which made the affair a festive one. After the day was over groups gathered their belongings to start home with the thought in everyone’s minds that they would like to make this an annual event. Rev. R. T. Duncan, minister of Alt. Olive Baptist church in Asheville, was present in our Bible class Monday night. Patsy Daugherty has re turned from Mission hospital after minor surgery. Johannah, Alma, and Wend ell Whiteside of Asheville were guests of the Albert Harpers Sunday. The Wm. Hamiltons, George Whittington, and Mrs. Aleen Carson spent Sunday after noon at the Rec park in Morg anton. Charlie Brown gave a won derful and helpful report from the convention he at tended at East Flat Rock last week. Mrs. Margaret Greenlee t linkscale returned to Youngs town, 0., after a week’s visit with relatives here. Someone mentioned to me Sunday about the pretty flow er bed on the upper side of the church yard. The flowers are just beautiful and we’d like to thank the Joneses for planting and caring for them Mr and Mrs. Herman Starks of Youngstown, O., were din FILLING PRESCRIPTIONS REQUIRES ACCURACY AS WELL AS PURE INGREDIENTS.
