Juniors Place Order for Rings The event of year, at least as far as the members of the Junior class are concerned, is the placing of the order for the Senior rings which will be delivered next fall, early in their senior year. It is a time of much excitement and the anticipation is matched only by that which precedes their arrival next fall. Seniors Interviewed Members of the senior class were interviewed on Friday, March 17 and interviews con cluded on Tuesday, March 21, by Mr. Penland of the North Carolina Employment service to discuss with the boys and girls suitable vocation areas. Those of the senior class who do not expect to attend college next fall were interviewed with the idea of their availa bility for labor after gradua tion. This does not mean that those interviewed will auto matically be listed for avail able jobs, but it does mean that their names will be filed and upon application for a job following graduation, they will be considered for suitable va c1 1 SEPTIC TANKS McDowell Pre-Cast Septic Tank Co. Xo School Friday Teachers will be attending the NCEA convention to be held in Asheville this Friday, there will be no schools in ses sion in Buncombe county. Seniors to Have X-Rays Seniors will journey to the Buncombe County Health de partment on March 30 for chest x-rays. They will be provided transportation in the school busses accompanied by teachers. BLUE RIBBONS WON— (From Page 1) they found the teachers and principals very cooperative in helping select the entries. In addition to collecting the work of the students and see ing that they were in Ashe ville, both Mrs. Whitaker and Mrs. Spencer helped with the display of all art work from the district to be submitted for judging. There were 130 entries from students from 7 12 grades inclusive. All stu dents whose work qualified are to be congratulated, but the winners and their instruct ors should feel most gratified, for there was stiff competi tion from much larger schools, some with full time art teachers. The community owes a debt of gratitude to Mrs. Whitaker, who works with the eighth grade art class each week. This is work she loves to do and does exceptionally well. As mentioned before, it is vol unteer work, her only com pensation being that of seeing her pupils grow in under standing and appreciation, and in watching their talent de velop under her guidance and leadership. She worked long hours before the contest, in mounting the pictures proper ly according to specifications which best displayed them. | Briggs & Stratton PARTS AND ENGINES McMURRAY CHEVROLET CO., Inc.
