V" ot these are summer staf fers now. Serving; on the directing committee are A vary Bales, Atlanta; Sharon Bowden, St. Augustine; Bruce Mann, Val dosta, Ga.; Pat McGlone,Tam Pa; and myself. We are lining up as much ot the program and assigning as much responsibility as pos sible this summer. We think this will be the best reunion yet. This ’n That Christmas is really being spotlighted now among staf ■ "*^'s '? traditional Christmas in July” week. However, the annual staff Christmas banquet will not be held until next Wednesday (Aug. 2) because the Sunday School Board is meeting at Ridgecrest Wednesday-Friday of this week. This leads me to say a big welcome to them, too, for their semi-annual meeting. I'm es pecially glad they’ve come to Ridgecrest for it gives me op portunity to see all my winter time friends, and my chiefs during those months—Dr. Har old E. Ingraham and Mrs. Ag nes G. Ford, service division director and press representa tive, respectively. If you appreciate good mus 1C let me suggest by all means that you hear the staff mus icale Sunday afternoon in +he auditorium at 3 o’clock. Miss Bobby Germany, staff music director, will be leading. In my opinion, they’re about the greatest. Conference Capsule Second Sunday School Con ference speaker opening today (Thursday) is Dr. C. E. Aut rey, director of the Division of Evangelism, Home Mission Board, Dallas, Tex. Another Texan, Dr. Kyle M. Yates, professor of relig ion at Baylor University, Wa co, will be Bible Hour speaker. William H. Souther, asso ciate professor of church ad ministration at New Orleans (La.) Baptist Theological Sem inary, will direct the music. Last Straw We made a survey of the staff last week and found, a mong other statistics, that Mississippi and Tennessee lead all the other states in number of staffers with 50 each. North Carolina is way down in fifth place (after South Carolina and Florida) with 42 staffers. Of the 141 colleges repre sented on the 1001 summer staff, Carson-Newman, in Jefferson City, Tenn., stands out with 14 staffers who are students there. There are 104 on the staff who have not yet entered college. Finally, there are 243 sin gle girls and 13(5 single boys on the staff this summer. My question is—“Why haven’t I found my 1.8 girls yet?” FOR FAST 2-WAY RADIO DISPATCH SERVICE DIAL NO 9-7313 BLACK MOUNTAIN, N. C. One will lead to usefulness and high purpose accomp lished. The other way will take you straight to degredation. Today is the day of days to make your choice. Read your Bible daily, study its spiritual messages, and through it you will learn that every boy and girl, and every man and woman, are divinely protected, but they must know that, within their human consciousness, before they garner the fruitage of a divine ly protected experience. Do not muddle through things. Make the Bible, through its wisdom, the way of life. You will learn great truths that will be more precious to you as the years go by, than any pearls that divers find.
