In Charlotte he attended the West Charlotte Senior High school and was an honor student. He was also a Sun day school scholar at the Pleasant Hill Baptist church, and one of the towns out standing: young- citizens. We were sorry to learn of his home-going, yet happy to know that he lived so others will profit from his life. Funeral service was held at the New Pleasant Hill Baptist church in Charlotte. James D. Kennedy of Win ston-Salem visited with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Kennedy, Sr. Sunday. Visiting with Mr. Kennedy were friends Mrs. Steward and daughters from Mt. Airy. The Kennedy and Stewards spent the day at Mt. Mitchell pic nicing and sight-seeing. Owney Logan of Plainfield, N. J., spent several days here with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Stepp and sons, Alfred Jr., and Jim my of Detroit spent the week here and in Asheville with re latives. C., is spending several days here with relatives. The Ministers Union was held Sunday at Macedonia A. M. E. church in Swannanoa. Rev. Mac Williams was host pastor, and the speakers for the day were Rev. Allen of Asheville, and Rev. Evans of Rutherfordton. Mr. and Mrs. R. Gragg and children, Mr. and Mrs. Austin and Mr. and Mrs. George Gragg, Mrs. George Carson. Mrs. William Daugherty, and Terry Detwaller picniced Sun day at a lovely spot on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Terry arrived here Sunday morning from Detroit and will spend several weeks with mem bers of his family. Olivia Riddley celebrated her 5th birthday last Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Brown and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Flacks and little daughter Waynette will leave here on Wednesday for Syracuse, N. Y., for a visit with sisters of Mr. Brown. A three day revival was held last week at the New Sa lem Baptist church in Swan nanoa. Rev. Duncan is pas tor. Mrs. Bessie Forney left last Friday for Plainfield, N. J., for a visit with sons, Clarence and Otis. Mrs. Carrie Kennedy is on the sick list this week. Each summer we look for ward to having members oi the Ridgecrest staff visit oui • little church from time tc time. Last Wednesday Rev. Fred Richardson, pastor of Camp Ridgecrest for Boys worshiped with us during prayer service er for the W. M. U. circle. We have enjoyed having' these fine young- people. Watching as they freely serve God as Ridgecrest visit many of the churches and hospitals. A birthday party was giver by Mrs. Dewey Rutherford ir honor of her sister Miss Wills J. Lytle. Lovely refreshments were enjoyed by the honoree and guests. Mrs. Jessie Sherrill anc Keith and Mr. and Mrs. Theo dore Long of Yanceville, N C., were the afternoon guestt of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Daugh erty, Blue Ridge road. Mr. and Mrs. T. W.
