The formation of this or ganization came about through the efforts of Mrs. Christine White, whose sincere interest and concern for the continu ed welfare of the Black Moun tain Volunteer Fire depart ment, prompted her to con tact a group of local women and approach them ■with the idea of forming a Ladies’ auxiliary . The response was most gratifying and the lad ies took no time in getting behind the movement. The purpose of the auxili ary is to lend assistance to the members of the Fire de partment wherever and when ever possible and to cooper ate mutually with the firemen in their work and social func tion. All local women interested in the Fire department are urged to attend the next meet ing which will be held on Feb. 2nd, at 7:30 p.m. in the Fire department headquarters.
