In The Community: The sudden death of Miss Bessie Smith, in Louisville, Ky. on Feb. 2, was a shock to older residents of Ridge crest who have known her and her sister, Miss Mary Pres sley Smith, for so many years when they lived here through each summer. While in an op tometrists office on Friday afternoon, Miss Bessie was tak en seriously ill and died be fore reaching the hospital. Dr. George Carver of Louisville called Mrs. W. H. Tipton to relay this sad news. After being a patient in St, Joseph’s hispita! for a week Mrs. W. M. Pate was on Mon o ° day able to go to the home ol her nephew and niece, Mr and Mrs. Hobart Lee of Ashe ville, where she will spen< some days in further recup eration.
